The prices are great. $9 – $12 typically. CASH ONLY. Great deal. Lots of food for your money. No frills. The butter chicken was good. Huge picture menu. Huge place. Many patrons seem to be Indian and Pakistani and Middle Eastern customers it seemed so I assume the food tastes pretty good and decently authentic. There’s a prayer room. Bathrooms could use better cleaning please.

Very bad in quality and taste , rice is too dry and no curry and biryani tastes good or spicy every dish which i tried was bad . The food wasn’t hot . Curd provided is just the cream. People who likes to have some indian food , not recommended at all.
Bad experience for me.

I’ve been coming here for 5 years for fast Indian food. The food prices are a great value which makes up for occasional inconsistency. Biryani options are all good as are the standard palak and daal. Breads are always fresh. I only get the chapati. Not a fan of their butter chicken. Last but not least the only lady that works there really seem to hate here job. She gives me anxiety and would love to come when she’s not working as I’m fully convinced her energy negatively affects the food quality and experience- her staff possibly as well. To be fair, I would be happy to pay for her permanent vacation with the money I save just coming here over the years.

Ghareeb Nawaz is a great place to go to if you want some really good Indian food that’s very reasonably priced for what you get. This location is cash only and they do have an ATM on site however to avoid ATM fees just make sure you bring cash. When we went the ATM wasn’t working, so just wanted to give you a heads up . The service is definitely no-frills
, and the cashier was definitely about the business. She was moving people along very efficiently and we probably waited for our food for 10 minutes or so. But it was definitely hot and fresh just how we wanted it so it was definitely worth the wait. We both ordered a butter chicken bowl to go and it came with some saucy butter chicken over rice. The butter chicken sauce was so delicious it was just what we needed. We aren’t in Little India very often however because this place is so delicious and also because I wanna check out other places too we definitely will be back very soon.

Stopped here on our way to the airport this afternoon as this place has close to 6k reviews. However, just not my type. Ordered fish and chicken biryani and the fish had a smell to it which if it was fresh wouldnt be there and the biryani also wasnt flavorful. Unfortunately a no for me and would not recommend it.

Is it the fanciest place in town? No. Is it the best value for your money you’re gonna get? Quite possibly! Incredibly good food for incredibly reasonable prices. The world is cold and scary, but at least we have Ghareeb Nawaz.

We’ve been coming to this location since the 90s. Ghareeb Nawaz is the cheapest, biggest portion size and tastiest Desi food you can get in the Chicago area. I would highly recommend the Butter Chicken w/ Naan and the Chilli Chicken Biriyani. Since the 90s I’ve only seen this place expand but never sacrifice on the quality of the food. It tastes the same as it did 25 years ago.

I went here with a group of 4 people and easily found a seat. The restaurant is cash only, and their ATM was down, so we had to scramble to get enough cash as a group. The service was horrible, but the price and portions make it worth it. The price was very affordable. I think I paid $3 for mango lassi and my butter paneer lasted me 4 meals. The flavors weren’t amazing or mind blowing, but for a quick, cheap dinner that lasted me for a couple of meals, I will take it!

Pros: delicious food, reasonable prices, quick delivery.

Cons: if they’re out of what you order and you ordered with a delivery app, you’re screwed. They won’t contact you with how you want to handle it, they’ll just send you something random instead. You can’t specify a specific replacement either when you order, so if you have food allergies, you might just get something you can’t eat. I’ve ordered the chili gobi from them many times (because it’s so delicious, my favorite thing!) and almost 50% of the time, I get something else delivered instead. It’s infuriating.

Important: It’s cash only, so come prepared.
Ghareeb Nawaz is the definition of incredible value in Chicago. The food is delicious, the portions are massive, and the prices are great—especially for the quality and quantity you get. Whether it’s their biryanis, curries, kabobs, or parathas, everything tastes like true comfort food made with care.
This place is an absolute Chicago staple. You can walk in hungry and walk out with enough food for two meals, all without breaking the bank. It’s no-frills, fast, consistently good, and honestly one of the best deals in the entire city.
