My wife and I visited El Buen Gusto yesterday for lunch. We’ve patronized this establishment many times over the past three years. It is such a relaxing place to eat some of the most delicious food in the world.
The chicharron lunch is just superb with chunks of deep fried pork, rice and beans with a salad mix all in one plate. The pork and chicken tamales are simply the best we’ve ever had as it is soft to cut with your fork. A dab of hot sauce on the tamales adds to the goodness. The pupusas are simply exquisite, and adding some hot sauce to it also picks it up a notch or two. The cole slaw is also delish, and mix it up with the chicharron and rice to give your mouth a sense of pleasure.
To drink, I had the 24-ounce horchata which was refreshing.
So yes, we’ll be visiting this restaurant for many years. For great Salvadoran comfort food, this is the place to eat.

This was the best happy little accident. We came in right before they were closing but they welcome us and served us with smiles and were so happy to have us in their restaurant. Everything we got was delicious and large portions. The salsa was excellent. Paulina is the owner and she was an absolute gem of a human. She brought us extra food to try because she could tell we were enjoying our food and just wanted to feed us and make sure we were well taken care of. She sat and talked to us and told her about her life and how she came to be here, her kids and grandkids, and her love of cooking. She was the sweetest abualita and a new amiga for life. Any time I’m in the area I will be back to visit with her. Highly HIGHLY recommend.

The closest to real Salvadorian food, family owned, you can see the owners cooking. Beware food takes long to be served since the fix everything from scratch, do not come it you are are in a hurry be prepared to wait from 15 to 25 min to have your food ready. They are clean and you can see from your table how your meals are prepared “nothing to hide”. Prices go from $4 to 15 aprox (2019).
