Masala Bay has the most wonderful, fresh Indian cuisine, perfectly seasoned. The Tandoori Salmon is the best I have ever tasted, hand grilled to perfection – moist on the inside and lightly seasoned and grilled on the edges and outside. The Daal Takka is light and nourishing, with fresh spices aromatic pleasing to all senses.
The atmosphere is incredible – clean with banks of windows that open out to views of the sound. The sound front decks and dog friendly yard wrap around the building and gardens and give you the experience of watching sunset views or moon rising over the water, and listen to the gently lapping waves.
The team here is incredible! Attention to every detail and need give a warm welcome and send you home with perfectly wrapped and presented deliciousness for your next meal 🙂
A magical experience! Best to come enjoy fresh on the water, but also amazing to take home!

I love this Restaurant. The food is amazing and the staff is welcoming and kind. I always try new things when I’m there and every appetizer and entree has been great. My favorite is the Lamb Korma. It is a lovely dish rich in aromas and flavors. Just the right amount of curry with a beautiful creamy texture – perfect for dipping my naan. It is located right on the water with picture perfect views of the sound. This is a Must Go!!!!

We had a great dining experience here on 12/6/25. Everything we ordered was excellent, and the service was also superb. The look/feel of the restaurant was very comfortable. This was in December, so too cold to sit on the deck. We ordered:
– Samosa appetizer
– Chana Masala
– Paneer Saag
– Garlic Naan
– Taj Mahal beer
They offer 4 levels of heat: mild, medium, hot, and “Indian hot”. I like spicy, but have had some dishes which were to hot in the past, so I went with “hot”. It was perfect – very hot (made my head sweat), but not so hot as to be unpleasant. I highly recommend this restaurant, and look forward to dining on the deck overlooking the sound in warmer weather.

Very good restaurant! Highly recommend if you are looking for something a little different on the beach. It also has some of the best views you could ask for! Will definitely be going back!

Kind Service | Delicious food | Beautiful view
We have been driving past Masala Bay for years, on the way to our vacation. This year, we decided to finally try it.
The restaurant was not too crowded, when we visited (a little after 5pm on a Tuesday night). The staff greeted us warmly, including the chef, and showed us to our table with a great vista of the water.
We started with an order of the toasted garlic naan. And we split our entrees, shrimp korma and butter chicken, which were large portions that came with plenty rice.
The waitress spent time telling us the story of the restaurant and we finished with a small plate of gulab jamun.
Overall, one of the best experiences and I would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for some Indian cuisine.

Excellent food and staff and what a view! We were greeted by the staff and given a nice chance to pick a seat versus being told where to sit which was great when the view is a big part of the experience. We had several questions on the menu which were quickly answered and very politely. We started off with the Bhel Puri which was light and flavorful and a great appetizer. We ordered the Vegetable Korma, Samsavera Kofta and a side of garlic naan. The food came out quickly from the kitchen and perfect the first time. The korma was very good but my preference would have been for it to be a little creamier and with fresh local veggies if possible. The real 5 stars come from the kofta and the naan. The potatoes in the kofta were off the chart and the overall dish amazing. The naan was cooked just right and so buttery with a hint of garlic – delicious. Definitely a place to stop at and we look forward to coming back soon!

We have now gotten dinner from here multiple times over the years and it never disappoints!! Recently we went to go dine in and sat outside for dinner and the view was gorgeous; wonderful outdoor seating and it seemed like the inside seating had a good atmosphere as well. Highly recommend the Samosa Chaat, by far my favorite and everyone else at dinner loved it too. The Aloo Gobi Masala was tasty as well but personally could’ve had a bit more spice and flavor. Overall a great place to grab dinner, and if you can, I’d recommend going there to sit outside! Will definitely be going back sometime.

This was an unexpected find in this part of North Carolina. It was really good food and the samosas were fantastic. The Butter Chicken was a little sweet for me, but it was really nice and the staff were so friendly. I had Butter Chicken and my friend had the Korma, The naan was good as well. The staff was very nice and helpful. Overall it was a great experience.

A not so hidden gem just before the bridge to OBX. Waterfront dining in a casual atmosphere. Authentic Indian dishes. Was it the best I’ve ever had? No. But it was delicious, and prepared well. Photos are of Chicken Mung Tandoori, and garlic shrimp. Just a couple miles from Duck and about 9 miles from Kill Devil Hills. I wish they would serve non-alcoholic beverages in something other than plastic cups. Everything else is so nicely plated, I’m not sure why water and sodas can’t be served in glasses. Service is slow because they don’t hire enough servers. The restaurant is sometimes busy, and other days not as much. Service isn’t terrible by any means, but it would be nice to get checked on and get beverages refilled throughout the meal. #gogetyousome
