Update: We brought the family here for our Christmas Eve dinner. Food was delicious and the service was great. The only “issue” was that we booked our reservation on Open Table, and a few hours before our reservation the restaurant called saying Open Table booked us for a table that didn’t exist. They offered us seats at the bar, which at that time we told them we have a 4 and 8 year old in our party. They managed to squeeze us in at a table, but said we needed to be out by 7:45pm. It was slightly irritating, but we made it work! The wagyu and grouper were very tasty.
What a great place! We were looking to try a new restaurant and happened to stumble upon 717 South in Hyde Park. We were able to be seated promptly upon our arrival. The inside has a lot of character, from the brick walls throughout the restaurant to the decor, it provides a warm and inviting atmosphere. We were tucked away in a corner booth, which was nice. Anthony was our server and we can’t say enough wonderful things about him. He was friendly and checked on us frequently, and assisted with cocktail selections. The food and cocktails were delicious! We shared a plate of edamame and enjoyed lasagna and a filet for the main course. Everything was cooked perfectly! My husband said it was the best cucumber gimlet he’s had! The desert menu looked scrumptious, but we were both too full. Definitely be back!

Great spot for everyday dining! They have a great, big bar to sit at and comfortable seating in the main room.
Cocktails are fantastic. I recommend the SOHO Socialite.
The food at 717 South is average for the area. Mushroom risottos with scallops was delicious and a very large portion. The Macadamia Nut Chicken is slightly dry.
Overall, great place to go and it is not too busy. The renovations were much needed.

We had a party of 6 for a birthday celebration. Our service and food were excellent! The restaurant decor is very nice. The only change I would make would be their choice of music. Maybe to switch it up would be nice. Thank you for a nice evening !

We came to celebrate my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary with a party of about 20. From the very beginning of making the reservation to arriving to the restaurant, getting set up in the semi private room to throughout dinner and thru the end… I can’t give enough praise to the restaurant and its employees for making the whole process worry free. We were treated very special from our waiters, Brian and a young lady who I am so sorry her name slipped my brain. But both of them were very professional and attentive. We were given every consideration and the service was excellent. The food was very good. We had an assortment of meals and each one was delicious. I especially enjoyed the lobster Mac n cheese which was delicious!!! They truly made our celebration special and I can’t thank them enough.

First time We ate at 717 and it was great. The food were delicious, we ordered fish tacos, burger, hunger steak, finished with chocolate cake. They were all tasty, fresh, delightful ( my bacon should cooked less burnt 🙂 and it should be perfect. I love the moscato wine, refreshing, great with the food.

So so good. Best risotto I’ve ever had in my life! Top it with chicken or shrimp for an even better taste. Burger and macadamia nut chicken amazing also. Everything so fresh.

717 South is delish!!! Their pork chop dinner is my favorite cooked perfect. The cabbage with the bacon and cream what can I say I’d go there just for that. The garlic bok choy was not to impressive. However I’m get to try the salmon dish with it in it maybe that will be different with the other flavors involved. The cornbread is also a must try as well as the beet salad such flavors and textures. It can get quite loud in there at times, I try to request a table in the back because it’s hard to talk sometimes. I prefer to book my reservations online just to be sure as it’s in south tampa, and I’ve seen it pretty busy. They also hold events. Personally I wouldn’t offer a special event geared directly at the bar which is literally between the walking space of the bar and kitchen. Makes it difficult to get walk through to get seated. Good parking never had issues even on a Friday night. The bad….. actually can’t say anything bad the staff has always been friendly service is good. I had one issue one night with an under cooked dish. The pork chop of course. Mind you that’s why I go there what can I say creature of habit. Between trying to get my server and having it fixed took some time but it was corrected. Unfortunately everyone me and my hubby were on a date, and I wasn’t going to let his food get cold waiting for me. They fired a whole new chop so it took time. I believe the head server possibly came over to help because they could see the awkwardness of me just sitting there. They offered free dessert which we were trying to decline not because we didn’t want to but because we were on a diet. We had our wedding coming up…. That dress had to fit lol….. but they were adamant to “make it right” so we bit the bullet. What’s one cheat night. Other than that it’s always been great and we definitely go as many times as we can.

What a surprise and treat! The lamb was so juicy full of flavor. My husband had the chicken WOW its a must try. Anna our server was awesome very friendly, she also the bar tender … she make the BEST smoke old fashion I’d give that a 10 star rating.

Brunch was great. Coffee was strong and smooth. Service was fast. Apple pie French toast was decadent. Chicken biscuit and gravy was savory. Will definitely be back. 8.1/10
