We came with a large group of friends and ordered basically 1 of everything, each dish was so incredible! Beautiful. Elevated. Rich. Don’t sleep on this place. The staff were so accommodating and helpful! They answered our questions, offered us specials not on the menu. And their patio is adorable! This experience was a core memory for our friend group. We had a blast and loved the intimacy of the venue. Tell your friends, bring everyone you know! You won’t be disappointed– some of the best food and drinks we’ve ever had.

OUTSTANDING!! We celebrated a birthday at Sable last night at the “Chef’s Table,” where you sit near the chefs and they create a sumptuous 5-course meal with wine pairings. Wish we had thought to take photos, but we were so busy oooo-ing and ahhhh-ing, savoring each delectable morsel … taking a photo didn’t occur to us until halfway through dessert. Want an amazing meal while supporting a local small business? Eat at Sable!

Had an absolutely incredible dinner at Sable tonight. Everything was thoughtful, elevated, and delicious. The owner, I believe his name is Jeffrey, was present in the kitchen supporting the staff and ensuring guests were well taken care of, which really stood out.

The French onion soup was perfectly balanced (sweet, salty, and slightly acidic), perfect for a cool winter night. The Poulet au Poivre was savory and comforting, and my husband’s short rib was incredible, so tender and flavorful.

Desserts were outstanding. The goat cheese ice cream with the Spice Cake was delicious, the goat cheese wasn’t too overpowering, it complimented the cake super well.

HOWEVER… the Pain Perdu (I believe it’s only available when they have extra bread left over) completely stole the show! Perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with a salty, buttery, caramel-like syrup paired with ice cream and macadamia nuts. Everyone at our table audibly gasped after the first bite. I’m sad it’s not available all of the time, it’s 100% something I would stop in to get when I’m craving something sweet. Huge shout out to our waiter for mentioning it, it was the cherry on top after an already incredible dinner.

Everything was just so well done. The staff is fantastic and the ambiance is perfect, we will be back soon!

Visited with several friends a few weeks ago but forgot to post a review. We loved the dishes and will be returning! I had the steak frites – a classic and it was done very well. As a table, we each got a different dish and had only great things to say. I know I will be trying the duck next time! The owner took the time to tell us his restaurant’s story and was very kind. The staff were very attentive. One of my friends has several food restrictions, and the restaurant was able to adjust the dishes accordingly. I hope to return soon and sit at the front table where the food is prepared!

Two options are offered: Chef’s Table or ordering from the menu. For our first visit, we chose Chef’s Table where we could observe the cooking and preparation of our 5-course meal with accompanying wines. Such an enjoyable and fun experience! Next time we’ll try the menu. Highly recommend. The entire staff and Chef’s were the best!!!

Eating at Sable is an all-around A+ experience. The restaurant is small, with a carefully designed interior that complements the farm-to-table menu. We chose the chef’s table, which is a prix-fixe, five course meal with two wine pairings – all chosen by the chef – and could not be happier with our decosion. The dishes were creative, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. The menu is constantly changing with seasonal availability of produce, so each visit will be a new experience.

Sable is an unexpected gem in a town the size of Lawrence. It’s the kind of food you’d expect to find in a major city with a vibrant culinary culture. If I could give it 10 stars, I would.

We decided to try out the new place, and could not have been more pleased. The menu is small, which is fine… I greatly prefer to have a few items well prepared than a huge menu that is not under control. We had the nicoise salad, the gnocchi, and the duck. We had a bread, pudding dessert that was the evening special. Literally every one of the dishes was fascinating. The service was excellent. The owner was very concerned that we have a good time. Could not ask for more, and so happy to have this restaurant in our neighborhood.

A cozy and intimate atmosphere with amazing wine and food. The restaurant has a neighborhood feel with friendly service. My needs were well taken care of here. Excited to keep coming back as they continue to develop. This spot has much potential to become a Lawrence staple!

We sat at the chef’s table and we’re wowed more and more each course. The wine pairings were perfect and we left feeling satisfied and eager to return.

The service was perfect, not intrusive or absent.

The price was appropriate for the time and talent. It was more than we would spend on a normal dinner out but this was so much better than normal.

The chef’s table was fun to see the kitchen work and to get to ask questions and hear about the dishes as they were being prepared.

We had dinner at Sable while visiting Lawrence for Jayhawk basketball. Lawrence is a favorite – now made perfect by adding Sable to the itinerary. Our dinners were incredible – we had the beet salad, short rib bourguignon, and spice cake. Our time with the staff was welcoming and we felt we made new friends when we left. This is a must try for anyone dining out in Lawrence – believe us, it will become a favorite!
