What an amazing evening here. First time visiting and we were very happy. We started out at the roof top and enjoying the wonderful view alomg with drinks and an appetizer, then went down to the restaurant for an amazing dinner. Everything was so delicious and flavorful. We enjoyed the ambiance so much.

What a super find! The food choices were great-it was hard to choose there were so many excellent options. Share a couple of appetizers and all were excellent. Loved the scallops with risotto for dinner. Perfect portion size… And left just enough room for shared desserts. The pistachio creme brulee was tasty but the chocolate torte was rich and perfect!!

Had to come on here and shoutout River & Post because they have consistently been one of my favorite dinner spots to take guests! Literally off of River and Post in Riverside, this restaurant is not only great for a rooftop view (and pre-dinner cocktail) but has a broad dinner menu that will appeal to everyone.
I always, yes always, start out at the rooftop lounge/bar. While the drinks are fantastic, I’d stay away from the appetizers (cheese plate was not impressive to us). After you’ve enjoyed the view and when you’re ready for food, head downstairs to grab a table in the restaurant. Both inside and outside offer plenty of tables, and those of us who are cold bodied do not need to worry… there are heat lamps!
This visit I went very basic with the R&P burger with fries. I’m sure most everyone in the Scoop has tried plenty of burger, but when I tell you this was the best cooked medium burger I have EVER had served to me, I am not lying. We were shocked as how perfect it came out. Cooked to a perfect medium and complimented with the best style of salted fries (house fries). My only regret is that I did not take a photo of the burger patty for you all to see. And side note, you do need to try these fries because they were seasoned so well and balanced out the burger just as this combination should. I honestly feel like this burger is a hidden gem because all of the other food is fantastic as well, but you have to give it a try!

Had dinner at River and Post and it completely lived up to the hype. The atmosphere is classy but still relaxed, and the rooftop view over the river is incredible. I ordered the filet and it was cooked perfectly with great flavor and tenderness. The sides and presentation matched the quality of the main dish. Service was friendly, attentive, and professional from start to finish. The rooftop bar after dinner made for the perfect way to end the night. Definitely one of the best dining experiences in Jacksonville and a spot I’ll keep coming back to.

we order shrimp and lobster salad . Shrimp was really delicious the salad on the other hand was like they just slapped a frozen lobster on top of the salad zero flavor zero effort.
I will definitely come back but not ordering that lobster salad again.

From the moment we walked into River and Post, we knew we were in for something special. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a vibe that felt both upscale and comfortable at the same time. Our server set the tone right away with genuine care and attentiveness — not just polite, but truly engaged in making sure we had the best experience possible.

I’ve been twice now- once on a Saturday night and more recently on a Saturday for brunch. Waiters were super friendly both times. Unfortunately, on the more recent visit we had a lengthy wait between the time we were seated to the time we ordered. Some of the delay was likely due to us originally waiting for more people to arrive (who ultimately didn’t come); however, even after asking (who I’d assume was a manager) to let our waiter know that we were ready to order – he failed to come in a timely manner. We watched him for a bit doing whatever he was doing. He was friendly and personable though. Food- I ordered chicken and waffles. Wasn’t a fan. The waffle had ginger in it which I found to be an odd flavor profile when combined with the hot honey syrup they put on everything. The syrup was spicy too! Combined with the natural spice of ginger I found it all to be too much for me. My mom had shrimp and fries- the shrimp were delish! Dad ordered pork belly. He said it was okay- I didn’t try it. Had a maple glaze on it. My daughter ordered avocado toast. It was good! A large portion and tons of guac on the toast. The ambiance is perfect! Roof top is beautiful. Would go back for the environment and the shrimp.

This was my second and husband’s first time and it was great. We went on a Saturday around 1pm and we seated in about 7 minutes. They had the brunch menu until 4pm. My husband ordered the burger with home fries. I ordered the Cargo’s Breakfast Platter with a side of Bread Pudding Toast! It took a little while but totally worth it!!! Hot, fresh, and delish!
