I usually love Perkins but this time…well. Let me start first by saying our waitress was phenomenal considering what she was up against. They were very busy and one of the waitresses called in/and didn’t show up. Our appetizers were very good and we were quite pleased with how things were going considering how much she was running around trying to serve everyone. Here’s where it goes south…we had a platter with eggs on it and a fly in it. A breakfast wrap of some sort with a dark long black hair in it. My husband pretty much lost his appetite after that. My food was ok…my burger a little dry but needless to say at least I didn’t have anything in my food that wasn’t suppose to be there (that I knew of). So when we thought things couldn’t get worse, my future daughter-in-law says, “nothing can ruin my pancakes”. Except for mold on the inside cover of the syrup container. After a quick visit with the waitress we ended up not having to pay for any of our food. I would have been totally fine with paying for our drinks, appetizers and at least my meal. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to this particular Perkins.

What to say about this place? We always go with hope that it will be better, its hit or miss. The server we had last time seemed overwhelmed with the couple tables she had. No disrespect, I’ve worked many years in the food industry, I do understand.The food was hit or miss. I ordered a Breakfast Burger with Fries. Hubby ordered Fish & Chips. My burger was good, I really enjoyed it, cooked well. Hubby’s order was lacking, his Fish was over cooked. Motzeralla sticks were good, when we finally got them after our main entries came out first. Bakery items (Pie) were good like always. Hit or miss folks.

Good food at a decent price, however prices on food keep going up. Good family restaurant, good for special events, family dinners, and parties. Food looks good, they have friendly staff, and they are there to make you happy and serve you the best they can. Also not many places you can get breakfast all day long. Got specials every night starting at 9pm. So stop on in on your next time your in Detroit Lakes and want a good bite to eat

the restaurant was so packed because of everybody from The we Fest is getting a good breakfast before they take off for their homes. All the employees work in unison everything was perfect. Our waitress told us it was going to be at least a 35 minute wait for our meal and it was exactly that.

Interesting meal. I ordered steak medallions with mushrooms and onions. I wasn’t asked how I wanted them cooked. When food came no mushrooms and steak was well done all the way to medium rare. Now that’s talent? Not the best Perkins I’ve ever visited. Service was good and was offered free desert for the lack of proper meal as ordered.

Went with a coworker and it was amazing food. The service was the best I’ve gotten in forever. Our server was friendly outgoing and really helped us with the order. 10/10 will definitely come again when I’m in town again!

Very unfortunate that this place has fallen so low. We tried three evenings before finding it open past 9pm. Sign on door that they close early due to no staff. Got seated in a filthy booth and we moved to another on our own. Floor is dirty with food and utensils under tables. Food was mixed. Soup cold and salad was soggy. French Toast and pancakes good. Waitress was working very hard and apologized over and over. Said staff can’t keep up to demand and service and cleanliness suffers. We have been going here for decades but no longer. Sad to see a lakes tradition fall apart.

We stopped at Perkins in DL for supper on a Saturday night. We eat often at this Perkins. It was very busy and they appeared to be under staffed. They have a hostess who seats you but does not wait on you. We sat and sat waiting for someone to ask about a drink order while a couple next to us who arrived later were given menus and water. Eventually the hostess brought us some water. After waiting a while longer the waitress arrived to see about a drink order and seeing we had water decided to take our meal order and the wait began again. I had ordered a salad and my wife ordered soup. After an extended period of time the Meals were brought along with the salad and soup. Seeing our drinks were empty the waitress refilled them but never came back. After finishing our meals we again waiting for the guest check. We thought perhaps the waitress had finished her shift or was on a break as we did not see her in the dining area. Eventually she surfaced, gave us our check and we paid and left. The meals were good and hot. The place was clean and comfortable. The price was reasonable and portions were adequate.

Do not go unless you have two hours to kill and don’t have little ones! Waited a while for our waitress to even come over to us. She took our drink and food orders at the same time. And then we waited and waited for our food. My toddler was getting hangry so I had pull out a banana that I happened to have in my purse for my son to snack on before our food came. I ordered him an extra side because I knew he was hungry so you’d think that our waitress would have noticed that he was getting loud and brought at least the applesauce that I ordered for him while we waited. Nope!! And we continued to wait. By this time he was still hungry and getting so restless and loud, neither of us where having a good time. After 45 minutes I got tired of waiting and we left without ever getting our food. Our waitress didn’t even say anything to us as we were leaving. Overall, poor and super slow service!
