Delicious soft and creamy frozen treats. The place is really well organized despite the lines and the staff are happy and friendly. It was an awesome day on the North Shore. They have a gift shop too. I bought 2 tshirts. A must visit.

First timers at Matsumoto’s! Prices are amazing! Line moves quickly, friendly and fast service! I had to get the seasonal flavor: POG with the ICHIBAN Special. I loved it! (I did bring a spoon with me to eat it. Made the job much easier. Haha. 🙂 My boys enjoyed the Tropical combo flavors of Lilikoi, Guava, & Mango and my other son enjoyed the blue vanilla and piña colada flavors. Mahalo!

Matsumoto Shave Ice, located in Haleiwa Store Lots off Kamehameha Highway, with ample parking behind the lot. This place was highly recommended, so we were excited to try it!

Upon arrival, we found the line to be long, but it moved quickly. The view from behind the glass was captivating. My husband and I opted for a large shaved ice with condensed milk. Unfortunately, the three flavors we chose lacked depth and tasted artificial, a bit watered down for our liking.

On a brighter note, we purchased some of their Li Hing Mango Chex Mix, and this was absolutely delicious.

While this location is quite touristy, it didn’t quite meet our expectations. However, Hawai’i is home to numerous other excellent shaved ice spots, so you can definitely find other good local shaved ice!

Sure, it’s a tourist must-do, but that doesn’t make it any less delicious or memorable. The ice is perfectly fluffy, the flavors are legit (not syrupy fake), and the variety of toppings is impressive. I went all-out and ordered the most expensive item on the menu…ice cream, azuki beans, mochi, condensed milk, you name it… and it still only set me back about seven bucks. In a state where “tourist pricing” is the norm, this place is shockingly fair.

Friendly service, fast lines, and a treat that actually feels like Hawaii. Totally worth the stop, and a place I’d come back to again (and again). One of the few truly “iconic” spots that deserves the crowds.

(See my photo for proof—this is what $7 gets you!)

A must visit if you’re on O’ahu. This place has been around for a very long time and they have perfected serving delicious shave ice to every guest. The line is usually out the door but it moved very quickly as they usually have a large number of people making shave ice. I’d suggest everyone in your group getting different flavors so you can try multiple flavors. The ice cream at the bottom is a nice touch as well as some of the other add ons.

A classic Hawaiian stop in Haleiwa with a fun, laid-back vibe. The shave ice here is refreshing and satisfying, and the Matsumoto combination was especially enjoyable—cool and flavorful on a hot day. The location also has a solid selection of souvenirs and gifts right at the shop, from magnets and caps to cute local apparel, which makes it great for picking up something to remember your day by. A must-visit treat spot if you’re exploring the North Shore.

This is a very iconic place to enjoy a refreshing dessert after a day at the beach. The “Ichiban Special ” is the best value for you money and more than enough to share with another person. The service is very friendly and expedient.I recommend this place to all our friends & family members

Wanted to try this place because it was so highly rated but was very disappointed. The ice was clumpy, the mochi was flavorless and the syrup tasted very artificial. Giving 2 stars instead of 1 because there was no line/wait when we went and the staff was nice. I recommend going to Island Vintage Shave Ice in Waikīkī instead!

On our drive around Oahu, a must stop is Matsumoto’s Shave Ice in Haleiwa. We always took the kids there and still take them there as adults. My son and I split one, half blue vanilla and have POG(passion fruit, orange and guava) with vanilla ice cream. It was delicious and a great relief on a hot Hawaiian day. Definitely recommend it!
