I’ve eaten here several times now, usually a month or more apart (with the exception of my birthday, when I came for both lunch and dinner!). Each visit has been consistently excellent. I’ve often had the same server, who is always an absolute delight and makes the experience even better. The service overall has been nothing short of amazing.
The food is always fresh, flavorful, and delicious, with great vegetarian options that I really appreciate. The only time I experienced slower service was when the place was packed with not a single empty seat, which is understandable.
The only small downside is that they don’t take reservations for smaller groups, which can make planning a little tricky—but it definitely won’t stop me from coming back. This is one of my favorite spots, and I’ll continue to support it wholeheartedly.

Food is nice especially tempura is soft inside and very crispy outside.
Service is not very good. We ordered green tea and took a while to come back with the tea. Did not ask if the food ok or refill hot water. The server just came back with the bill without asking if we need anything else. Default tip sets at minimum 18% is too much for a casual dining service like this.

We have been going for many years and lived when Jay was the owner for his hospitality. Tonight we spent our $150 night out for sushi at sushi on the strip. It just doesn’t work for me to drive there and not be able to get a reservation. I am not buying a bento box and taking up a space. We want to be able to reserve and plan our night to enjoy the value we are spending

Very pleasantly surprised at the quality of service and food. This place is a real gem for this city! We were seated right away without a reservation. The restaurant looks really nice and the servers were so friendly and helpful. The food all tasted great but my only complaint was that the dynamite roll had way too much crab, which is probably a good bad thing. The prices here are amazing, I was shocked at how reasonable the prices were for the quality and tastiness. The food all came out quickly and we really enjoyed our meal. I will come back next time I’m in Cranbrook.

Sakura is Such a gorgeous place inside, and I’ve never been there and not felt very welcomed by the staff. The price is on all the items are very fair and everything is very high-quality
If you’re going there for a work lunch, it’s very efficient and quick or if you’re going there for a sit down dinner it is a beautiful interior.
Never had a bad meal and never had a bad experience so if you’re travelling through or just want a nice date night Sakura is your spot!

Disappointed in our experience today. Took my mom for a belated birthday lunch. We always order a few starters to share. Our gyoza came out cold, took about 10-15 min to get the attention of our waitress to let her know. The replacement came out luke warm. Not sure if they’re being cooked from frozen and not thoroughly warmed up or sitting in a warmer tray? The chicken karage was the smallest portion ever. Normally at other sushi restaurants there’s enough that we end up having left overs, at Sakura the portion was barely a measuring cup worth and it had no sauce on it but came with a mayo to dip, ultimately tastes like KFC popcorn chicken, not proper chicken karage.
We also had the yam&prawn tempura which was good and the gomae which was also good.
There was also no change table in their extremely poorly laid out bathroom. Had to change my 7mth olds diaper on the seat at the table (I have a change pad that folds out of my diaper bag so don’t worry he wasn’t bare bummed on the seat)
Not sure if we will return or not to try again.

Great little sushi place! Visited back in Summer and had a great meal. Polite staff at the counter for takeout, and quick prep from ordering to pickup right on time. Sushi itself was nice and flavourful, and the sashimi was top notch. Looking forward to coming back to Cranbrook and stopping in!

Decent atmosphere but not the best food. Also the portions and actual dishes are not what was expected. We ordered tempura and a couple combos for two people. Tempura was woefully short on substance. Three very small prawns and three slivers of yam very underwhelming would not recommend. Spicy combo had spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls. Decent but over sauced and very little fish. Cucumber rolls were excellent and over sized. Dynamite combo had a horrible roll was filled with crab mix should have been called a Calimite roll because it was a Cali roll with a prawn in it. Not what was expected again. Nigiri was fine but tiny. Service good and location is great just can’t compare to the coast.

Ordered a couple party tray for 6 adults & 1 kid. Everything was delicious- the crab meat tasted very fresh!! The kids meal was pretty small but my niece was still quite happy. This will be our go to sushi place next time we’re in town.

The food was fresh and rolls were very good. Prices are decent considering we are not in the coast. Very friendly wait staff and would definitely visit again. The drink specials were great price.
