The highlight was the variety and quality of the proteins- the Chicken Pepper had a fantastic kick, and both the Mutton and Fish were seasoned perfectly and incredibly tender. The chicken 65 was very good.
What really sets this place apart is the freshness of the sides. The Idappam was light and soft, and the Parotha was flaky, layered, and clearly made fresh. Pairing them with the pepper chicken is a must-try.
Authentic, flavorful, and a great way to celebrate. This is easily one of the best spots in Redondo Beach for a real South Indian feast!
Pro Tip: If they have the Leaf Meal as a special when you visit, grab it. It’s the best way to sample everything.
My heart is happy

We had an exceptionally amazing dining experience yesterday at Copper Pot’s Pongal special lunch!
This visit was completely unplanned. We were about to order takeout on Uber Eats when we noticed the Pongal lunch flyer from Copper Pot. (Check images)
When we called, reservations had already closed and they had only a few walk-in spots left, but they kindly asked us to arrive 15 minutes before the start time so they could accommodate us.
Having had a terribly disappointing “traditional” Pongal lunch experience at another nearby restaurant earlier, we were understandably skeptical, but we’re so glad we gave it a chance. Missing this would have meant missing something truly memorable.
From the moment we sat down, it felt truly special, a traditional multi-course Pongal feast served the authentic way on a banana leaf, just as it should be.
The experience was made even more special by Ilaiyaraaja sir’s timeless 80s and early 90s classics playing in the background, pure nostalgia and soul food for foodies and music lovers like us.
We learned this was the very first time the restaurant hosted such a special event, yet the attention to detail, smooth organization, and genuine warmth made it feel like they had been perfecting it for years.
The entire staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming and super attentive, accommodating even the smallest requests with genuine care. It wasn’t just our stomachs that were full by the end, our hearts were too as it filled with appreciation and gratitude.
Big shout out to their chef Taj and the restaurant’s lifeline Judy, and their wonderful associates.
To top it all off, it was lovely bumping into our friends there and spending time together after lunch, wandering around the scenic spots of Palos Verdes & San Pedro till sunset and ending the evening back at Copper pot to enjoy their most popular south indian filter coffee with our friends, it was the perfect ending to a perfect day.

We ordered our drinks and in multiple instances, they either forgot or misremebered or didn’t get our drinks right. We had one server, then it was switched and it was very confusing. The food ordering was also chaotic. We distinctly asked for saag paneer..and thought we confirmed it with the host only to find out it was never ordered and we had to put in another order which added more wait time
The highlights was the lamb vindaloo, very excellent. The rest was decent. The garlic naan was good and the overall dishes were good including the lamb biryani.
The service was overall inconsistent, confusing and sometimes overbearing. They kept trying to take out plates when we still had food coming to the table. Like why would you try and take it when we have food coming? At least check with the waiter to know if we’re done with our orders. I understood the intention to clean and take our plates but when we didn’t even get all our food and being asked or almost having our silverware taken is kind of a bit annoying.
Overall the experience was a bit underwhelming. If the service was better and consistent. I think I’d recommend this place. But for now it made me feel a bit apprehensive.
Hey Copper Pot. If you want customers to be happy, set the tone. Train your help. Take care of your customers. That’s your job.
But the service is a whole different story. Every time I place a take-out order, it feels like they forget about me, and the wait is always much, much longer than what they quote. This last time, I’m pretty sure my order never even got started — after waiting for what felt like over an hour, I ended up just dipping. (thankfully I hadn’t paid yet)
If you want to enjoy this place, get delivery. (from uber eats or postmates) Seriously. I’m convinced they prioritize delivery orders while the take-out folks can get unapologetically ghosted. It’s astounding.
The quality of the food is so outstanding it nearly offsets the hella subpar service — nearly. lol. If they ever fix the take-out system and overall customer service, this would be an easy 5-star spot. Until then, far from it!! Namaste!!
The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome throughout the visit. Service was quick without feeling rushed, and the overall ambiance was clean, comfortable, and pleasant.
Definitely a great place for family dining or catching up with friends. Highly recommended — will surely visit again!
Worst experience.
The ambience is really nice and welcoming. On my last visit, Chef Taj even gave me a Copper Pot gift card for Thanksgiving. Such a thoughtful gesture—it truly made me appreciate the place even more.
Highly recommend!
The assistants are not attentive, the manager is doing the servers’ job, the cooks are overcooking the chicken.
Now the redeeming quality is the flavor. The food flavor of this restaurant is amazing. 5 of 5 on food.
This place needs 2 really good servers. They need to be trained and familiar with formal American dining and serving Americans. Then could be popping.
The place is adequately clean, the music is nice, but the terribly slow service ruins it all. Having the floor manager and the head chef act as server, food runner, and delivery expo is not ok.
Those are server jobs. Not manager and chef jobs.
I had to demand my check to leave. I asked 2 times and waited 15 minutes.
If I ask you for my check, I need it delivered to me IN under 5 min. This is your urgent priority. This is the most important task after food quality.
This is crucial to my review.
Now I consider this restaurant a delivery restaurant. The food is really that good that I’m not stopping, you just won’t find me dining inside.
