Used to be great, now terrible.

It’s extremely overpriced for the quality of food they’re serving. The chicken was overly salty with no real flavor. The ground beef was dry and burnt. The lamb was okay, but still lacked seasoning. The rice wasn’t fully cooked — it was semi-hard. The chickpeas had no flavor at all, and the white sauce was super thick and way too salty.

Very disappointing experience. I won’t be coming back. There are much better kabob spots in the DMV.

Great food, their sandwich is really good and I love that they make the bread fresh. The dough is out and I believe they make it fresh to order everytime

I loved the chicken kabob sandwich and asked them to make it spicy so it had a nice kick to it + the side of eggplant which was delicious. All for about $13.25

Will definitely be back

It’s not a fancy place, good for a quick bite or takeout. They have high hairs and recently added benches. Their food never disappoints. Portions are okay, used to be bigger in the past but everything tastes great and their bread is amazing. Very friendly service!

Today I visited Kababistan in Springfield, VA and ordered Qabuli Palaw. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing.

What I received did not resemble authentic Afghan Qabuli Palaw at all. The dish was poorly presented, disorganized, and completely lacking flavor. There was barely any meat in the plate, which is unacceptable for a dish that is traditionally known for tender, well-portioned lamb or beef.

Additionally, it was served without naan on the side, no proper garnishing, and no side salad — which is normally expected with Afghan meals. The rice itself tasted bland and dry.

As someone familiar with Afghan cuisine, this was far below standard and honestly disrespectful to the name “Qabuli Palaw.” I expected much better quality and authenticity.

Very disappointed with both the quality and value. I would not recommend this dish here.

The food was delicious and decent amount but hygiene was zero. Please wash all your chutney and red sauce bottles they are very dirty and sticky and can’t even look at them while eating. I cannot imagine the owner or whoever is running that place ignoring such thing. The food is good but the level of hygiene carelessness is turn off .

I ordered two meal plates and was told to show up in 15 minutes. I showed up in 20 and they had not even started. An argument ensued among the staff (second time I have seen this happen) and was promplty told in a weird nonsequiter that they “had no rice.” No rice. Thus no lamb. Or meal. Got it. Next time I’ll bring my own. How does this restaurant survive?

This place is under new management. The only reason why it has a good reviews right now is because of the previous owners did an incredible job with their chicken. Now their chicken has no flavor. It is dry and always consistently overcooked
their rice is hard and not consistently soft and chewy.

Best chapli kabob in town. For the rest one main guy is amazing very hospitable but another one not sure his name, he had pretty mean attitude.

Also i didn’t experience myself but a friend who went with me said if you tip low they’d be upset. So that’s not how it should be. Tip should be happily given based of services provided.

Probably this business needs to improve on that part.

First time here. I will say the food is good. We placed our border which constisted of A1 – Boneless pieces of chicken breast marinated in special herbs over grill comes with rice and naan and a side. We had chicpeas. We also ordered A9 – Combination of Lamb & Ground Beef Kabob with rice and naan. We had a side order of chicpeas. I also ordered a side of eggplant. After we ordered we were offered some soup to try which was absolutely delicious. The food was really good but but it took 30 minutes to get food for dining in. There were people there who arrived after we ordered and received there food before us. There take out is very popular and busy. I don’t think I will eat in again. I will most likely do a to go order.
Place wasn’t cleaned when folks left so if felt a dirty. The 3 stars us only for the food
