Jack’s BBQ – South Lake Union (SLU)

  4.4 – 984 reviews   • Barbecue restaurant

Social Profile:

Jack’s BBQ is based on the BBQ style started in butcher shops in Central Texas in the late 1800’s. Beef and pork with a simple salt and pepper rub, smoked low and slow over hardwoods (post oak, mesquite, hickory), and served on butcher paper. Sauce is optional (sometimes not even served in Central Texas), along with pickles and white bread.

A no-frills joint serving up Texas-style slow-roasted bbq meats & sides alongside smoked cocktails.

My fiancée and I ordered brisket, pork ribs, sausage links, Mac n cheese, and the buttermilk hush puppies. The hushpuppies were okay but my fiancée loved them with the tartar sauce. The sausage links were good, and the Mac n cheese was phenomenal! Unfortunately our brisket and ribs were very dry, we complained and they happily fixed our order along with discounts on top. But even when it was remade the meat was still very dry. We truly appreciate their service and it isn’t their servers fault they really tried their best! Would love to come back and have the tender meat we hoped for.

I’m from Texas. This was ok at best. They were out of MAC-N-Cheese as well as the Corn Casserole. They put Honey on the Corn Bread! The BBQ Brisket was a bit dry. Ribs were dry. Sausage was ok.
I am handicapped. I had to walk out the Restraunt, through the art gallery, down the stairs, through the heavy doors, open the exit door, go down the fire escape stairs & then to the restroom!!!!
Horrid!!!! I am a Vlogger/Influencer & I will warn people.

Lovely dinner at Jack‘s BBQ. The meat was really soft and juicy, the greens were well spiced and even the cornbread was nice (normally not a big fan)
Food was really quick at the table , only little negative is that the interior is not inviting to sit for long – it’s more designed for a quick in and out.

My review is a bit critical, but I found the meat dry. I ordered the brisket and the chicken and both left a bit to be desired. The side dish of mac and cheese and corn bread were both good.

The atmosphere of this place is great and transports you outside of the city center and into Texas. I recommend dinning inside to fully immerse yourself. The wait staff was friendly and pleasant. The price point was also good.

We decided to check out Jack’s BBQ in South Lake Union after seeing a bunch of great reviews—and it absolutely did not disappoint! The food was amazing, full of that classic Texas BBQ flavor. My 5-year-old loved it so much he even gave the chefs a compliment, which says a lot! The service was warm, friendly, and attentive.

Portions were generous—we left super full and still had leftovers to take home. For the quality and amount of food, the value is definitely 5/5. Highly recommend if you’re craving real BBQ in Seattle!

The first impression was great. The server brought water without ice, and honestly, that small detail made a difference – it really let the flavor of the meat come through. Menu is simple and easy to understand.

My wife ordered the pork ribs and I got the brisket. For sides, I had mac and cheese (really good with a little spice) and potato salad (just okay). My wife had the corn with paprika and cheese – that was amazing – plus the chili, which looked solid too.

The brisket was good, tender and flavorful, but not the best I’ve had. The ribs were a letdown – dry and tough, not the Texas-style I was expecting.

The check was about $70 after tax, which felt fair for what we got.

Would I come back? Maybe, but probably more for the sides than the meat.

⭐ Service: 5/5
⭐ Food: 3/5
⭐ Overall: 4/5

Thank you for your dish. It was very flavorful and delicious. It’s been a long time since I’ve had such a memorable culinary experience. If everything had been even fresher, it would have been absolutely perfect – I would love to try the dish in that form. Otherwise, everything was excellent, thank you!

The food was awesome, we ordered the trinity and pork ribs. The sides were sweet corn potato, potato salad, coleslaw! Food was served quick and the portion sizes were big enough we had take home! Jamie was such a great server and made us feel welcome and at home. We also loved that it was a quite afternoon lunch with the themed music playing! Wild wild west haha

We went for dinner on a Saturday and got a table for 5 without waiting or waiting. I had the brisket and ribs, and they were quite good. The brisket was a bit dry, especially one of the pieces, but was tasty with the bbq sauce. The mac and cheese was very creamy and cheesy, but the coleslaw was a bit bland. The bacon was delicious, with a little sweetness to it. Some of the nachos were stale and not so crispy. One other note is that the bathroom is an adventure to get to haha. Overall, it was solid bbq and an enjoyable meal

Hey vegetarians, there’s things for you to eat here! Sides (and desserts) are always my favorite at BBQ places and they have plenty of options here! My favorite was the potato salad. Shiner Bock braised mushrooms are the veggie “main” option. If you like mushrooms you will probably love these. I’m a vegetarian who is kind of “meh” about mushrooms but I’m glad I ordered these. I wished they were soy curls instead, but just happy to have an option. Thanks for thinking of us plant eaters!! ❤️
