For drinks, the apple mocktail with wasabi and white chocolate was a unique standout. The tempura was light and delicate, providing a great contrast to the indulgent wagyu tacos and steak. The sashimi box was also beautifully presented and incredibly fresh. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough—it’s the perfect spot for a special occasion with loved ones.
The food was outstanding (wagyu taco + wagyu steak ) nothing missed, and the thoughtful anniversary touches made the night extra special
We ended up waiting around 20 minutes before anyone came to take our order. While the food itself was quite good, the ordering service was extremely slow and we had to wait a very long time. When paying the bill, I spoke with the manager, but there was no acknowledgment or solution—only excuses.
KOTO is a visual and culinary delight from the moment you arrive. The entrance, framed by a serene Japanese-style garden, sets a tranquil yet grand tone. The regal double doors open to reveal a beautifully designed modern interior — a harmonious blend of dark, moody tones contrasted with warm light woods and sleek marble, making it a truly unique and elegant place to enjoy an evening.
My partner and I dined here for dinner and loved every moment of our experience. The ambience was elegant and inviting, perfectly complemented by the outstanding service. Melissa looked after us with genuine warmth and professionalism, guiding us through the menu with expert recommendations that were nothing short of divine. Every dish was wonderfully presented and full of flavour, and our desserts provided the perfect finishing touch to an unforgettable meal.
KOTO is a must-visit for your next night out.
We celebrated our anniversary at Koto Japanese Restaurant and could not have chosen a more perfect place. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed, and Otto-san made us feel so incredibly special throughout the night. His genuine hospitality and attention to detail went above and beyond — we truly felt looked after in every way.
The food was absolutely outstanding: beautifully presented, authentic, and full of flavour. Each dish felt carefully crafted, and the balance of textures and tastes made for a dining experience that was both elegant and memorable. Pair that with the cosy, intimate atmosphere and you have the perfect setting for a special occasion.
Koto is more than just a restaurant — it’s a place where you feel like a valued guest. We will definitely be back, and that is all thanks to the wonderful care of the Manager, Otto-san. He made our anniversary one we will never forget.
Thank you, Otto-san and team, for making our evening so memorable. We couldn’t recommend Koto highly enough to anyone looking for exceptional Japanese cuisine in Canberra.
Ota was serving us and he was so friendly, super knowledgeable about both the food and drinks menu. He made fantastic suggestions for pairing dishes with sake.
Will definitely come back to Koto for another amazing experience in the future.
