Straightforward burgers done right. The patty was juicy, bun soft, and everything tasted fresh without extra nonsense. Fries were crisp and disappeared fast. Super casual setup, friendly staff, and the kind of spot you bookmark for repeat visits when you want something simple and satisfying.

If you like burgers and fries this place is okay, but wander off of that and it’s not so hot. Had one good burger there, but the rest were over cooked to the point of being black in areas, even though I’d asked for them medium. The over cooking ruined them. Had the fish, but it was too crunchy, clearly frozen. Parking is cramped, place gets filled in a hurry and it’s noisy inside as well. 30 bucks for two pieces of over crispy fish and a burger, with FF for both. No much of a value for the dollar, in my opinion. Went there enough times to know that I won’t be going back.

7pm Thursday dinner had great and friendly service and great food. The Greek salad with chicken for $18 is the best I’ve had in Iowa. Love music was fun and a nice surprise.

We have a lot of nice neighborhood locally owned bars and restaurants in Iowa City. Shorts on the east side is among them. The veggie bean burger I had was quite good and the service was fast and friendly.

Ordered food for carry out. They messed up the order, no guac on my burger, asked for ranch and didn’t get it. The burgers themselves weren’t anything special, little dry. We didn’t like the fries. We liked the 3 beef tacos. The lady in the phone was a little rude. Service here was pretty on par with most places in the area. They gave my order to someone else and had to run down the sidewalk to get it back.

They have amazing burgers, and service is always excellent! I love that this Short’s is so close to neighborhoods, making it a perfect go to place for food that is always dependable and enjoyable. The burger selection is the same menu as their downtown Iowa City location and they are made just as well. Servers are also very attentive and seem to enjoy working here too. During the summer months, they have a small outdoor patio seating section to use. I love the environment of this place, and can’t say enough how good it is to have it in the area!

Came in with hangry kids, which didn’t phase our server in the least bit, she was still overly courteous and sweet to them. Food was great, my husband had a burger and I had a very tasty taco salad. Then our server even let the kids hang up their colored pictures. We were treated like family and we felt very special. Thank you!! Everyone should stop in here- It’s just a few minutes off the highway if you’re traveling like us, and well worth it! Nice full bar with beers on tap too, I’d like to try next time we don’t have the kids
