Food is great like always but the portions were really small , they changed the sizes. The waffle fries come now in a smaller tray . The hot dog is smaller now. The stuffed jalapeños came in a tiny tray. Not happy at all.

This location has been here for 18 years! That’s impressive in this ever so changing world we live in now.
The burgers are old fashion style with perfectly toasted buns and made to order. The onion rings are medium thickness. Service was great and the items were delivered to the table fairly quickly with a smile. The prices are really good too.
They play great music (Elvis was on!) from the simpler era. I love the black and white picture hanging on the walls. The neon sign also gives it that 50’s diner look. There are plenty of seating options inside as well as a patio with umbrella cover. Parking is easy and right outside of the restaurant.
They need to update the booths. Many have tears in the seat portion and that gives a bad look. I’m surprised no one has repaired them to keep the place looking as nice as possible.

DO NOT COME HERE ️if ️………….

you are looking for a burger with flavor…. I was browsing the internet, looking for a good burger! Came across this place to give it a try… I ordered a hamburger, the way it comes. Meat has no flavor. Fries were fresh out the fryer but we’re limpy, not crunchy. The fountain drinks dont come with a lid or straw , so good luck trying to prevent kids spilling the soda…. But come on guys! Why do I feel like I was better off going to whataburger , considering this is (seemingly) a better quality burger…. burger had no flavor, bro! That’s crazy! ……. I spent $15 and it was not worth it… I ate my food, didnt complain to employees, and left the establishment. Oh well, im glad I gave it a try though

Super chill and casual burger spot. Very convenient for my son at memorial HS. Dining area was pretty full but his sandwich came out within a few minutes. Reasonable prices and quick service make it a great little lunch spot.

I’m a regular customer here. Today is the first time I ordered a salad and upon asking the cashier about the amount of ranch that comes with the salad, she told me 3 before a charge on the fourth so I told her I’ll take the 3 ranch. When I got to the counter to pay, they charged me for an additional ranch when I only received 3 ranch total. One for my fries, one tiny half container for my large salad, and the charged extra one. It’s ridiculous that they want to charge for 1/3 to 1/2 filled sauce containers. And ONLY 1/3 container of ranch for a large salad WOW!

First time coming, I guess you get faster & friendlier service from the older hispanic gentleman if you’re a regular. While taking our order his demeanor was poor and had little patience with us, even though I ordered quickly and only took brief moments to decide on our choice of soda and sides. This behavior was not repeated with the clients after us.

I ordered 2 burgers, waffle fries, mozzarella sticks, and drinks. Cashier greeted two families (4+ people) & one takeout customer in a friendly manor and acknowledged them as returning customers. They ordered after us and all received their order at least 15 minutes before because cashier didn’t submit order to the kitchen until the kinder younger cashier noticed our long wait.

Food was good and the atmosphere was great but a shame to receive different service than others did during our visit.

Would not honor a coupon that is valid and directly from the site. They said the owner demands it be printed. Been coming for years. Good but not great burger and too many options to put up with this bad service.

Was in town on business and was told to try this place out. It’s a mom and pop burger joint (with 4 locations around Houston) and is no frills, old fashioned style. I got the basic double cheeseburger with fresh cut fries.

Double Cheeseburger 7/10 – the meat is under seasoned for me, but everything else was great. From the large pickle slices and fresh bread, it made for a great burger. I personally just added some S&P and was content.

Fresh Cut Fries 8/10 – I liked these because they were almost crispy and definitely fresh, had cut potatoes.

Service 7/10 – it’s a counter order style joint, and they just bring the food out. Pretty much self serve. The staff was friendly though overall.

Atmosphere 7/10 – again, it’s a no frills and basic old school style burger joint.

Overall 8/10 – I definitely recommend to give them a chance if in the area. You never really know what to expect with places like this, but this one did not disappoint!

When I’m deciding on food for lunch or dinner, the item that I am most likely to seek is a burger. Living in a large city like Houston, it is easy to find a restaurant serving beef patties on a bun piled high with your favorite toppings and one burger joint I have visited and liked is Southwell’s Hamburger Grill.

This Southwell location is located off the main road, so many people do not even realize that it’s here. It is very close to interstate 10, and thus easy enough to find. It is larger on the inside than expected, with a good number of tables and booths, enough to seat upwards of one hundred people.

Burgers are the reason you visit Southwell’s. The menu consists of burgers, sides, and shakes and you order at the counter, then wait for the food to be delivered to your table. One thing I like is that they have a small display, right there on the counter when you order, showing the topping options. This helps make the process faster, since customers are not looking all over the place trying to find the choices. Burgers are prepared to order, and with this easily visible display, it is easy to see the topping choices and order exactly what you want. And there are about 20 different burgers from which to choose, along with a few chicken sandwiches, salads, etc.

Burgers and sides are all sold separately at Southwell’s. There isn’t a combo meal menu. That means you can either go light and order just a burger and drink, or add a side if you want. I love the onion rings served here, so I will usually get that as my side item. Combined with a juicy burger on wheat or white bun, with the toppings of my choosing, makes for a satisfying meal.

Service at Southwell’s Hamburger Grill is efficient. In a matter of minutes, they have the food for you, delivered to your table. It’s only a little slower than the service at a fast- food restaurant, but much faster than the service at a full service restaurant. And the food is easily better than fast food and on- par with that of most full service establishments.

Houston is known for its burger culture. Southwell’s Hamburger Grill is a good place for a quick burger fix, and the prices are reasonable for what you get. I recommend it to anyone who loves a good burger, prepared the way you like it.
