While running errands after having Breakfast this morning with Kit, travelled past the old Jo Joe’s Dog’s and saw that a new place has apparently opened.

After completing most of the errands and unloading the yard and garden purchases, we drove out to CHOMP!

In keeping with eating lower carbs, we both ordered our sandwiches sans rolls.

Kit, chose the Roasted Turkey sandwich with lettuce, bacon, avocado, American cheese and mayo on the side.

My choice was the Sausage, Peppers, Onions with melted Mozzarella Cheese.

Both sandwiches were delicious.

Since it’s my weekend off after my 2 12 hour shifts in Medic Unit #1202 tomorrow and Friday.

We’ll invite Sarah and Caitlin to join us for Breakfast in Saturday or Sunday.

Friendly people here and a nice little Small Business to support!!!

Decided to take a trip down memory lane today and headed over to Chomp. Located on Route37 in Toms River, Chomp features a well balanced menu with some familiar fan favorites. Formally known as Joe Joe’s Italian Hotdogs, owner Ralph knows the recipe for success. Entire staff was friendly and welcoming & the place is warm and bright. Their Italian Hot Dog brought me back to my childhood. I highly recommend stopping in for a bite to eat. Ralph, thank you for bringing back a fan favorite. Best of luck & warm wishes.

A friend and I went for lunchtime grand opening day. Albeit a small little place with 4 tables; The food quality, quantity and pricing makes up for that (Which should be the main focus anyway).

I had their chicken tender basket and also a cheeseburger pictured. The fresh cut potato wedges are what made everything.

Mostly everyone was ordering a hot dog varient, so it seems like that should be the pushed narrative for this location going forward as everyone sounded satisfied with their orders!

Being the location also going down to the beach, it can be a quick picker upper if the order is called in or ordered online, for sure.

Place was horrible. My mom got food to go. Food was horrible. When she got home, the fries were so soggy, they were uneatable. They were not crispy at all. They are just mush at this point. My boyfriend had got a cheeseburger, the cheese wasn’t cooked and melted on the burger at all, it was a complete solid piece of cheese. We also had gotten someone else’s order. Ordered a Oreo milkshake, didn’t have both items so basically got ice cream in a cup. Around $50, definitely was not worth it. DO NOT recommend this place at all.

Got the chicken cutlet sandwich and I haven’t had this kind of sandwich in a long time. The mozzarella and the fresh roasted peppers and the balsamic glaze was perfect with it. Would go back again.

I was really hoping for so much more. Chili was good, fries were thick slices of potatoes barely fried, soggy and mushy- not fries by any means. Don’t be afraid to leave things in the oil longer, my well done dog was tasty but far from well done, and consider changing your fries- 3 orders went into the trash. Good luck! We’ll try you again sometime and hope for better- you’ve got the potential!!

Finally an Italian hot dog that actually looks and tastes like one. If you come from northern Jersey you know when the Italian hot dog should look like and taste like. For anyone that don’t I extremely suggest trying CHOMP. Right down to authentic pizza bread. This place is off the hook. They have a very extensive menu of many things. They all our located where the old JoJo’s hot dogs used to be. Stop it you won’t be disappointed

Today I went to Chomp! (formerly Joe Joe’s) in Toms River. It was their first day. I usually wait but I have been craving an Italian Hot Dog for awhile and didn’t feel like traveling over an hour to get an authentic one.

Chomp! is the real deal. I expected it to be good as the owner Ralph Mannarino promised to make it like Joe Joe’s with fresh pizza bread from Calandra’s bakery and Best’s hot dogs. Joe the previous owner was there helping out before the opening.

The dogs are natural casing and 8 to a lb. Besides an Italian Hot Dog you can get a regular dog dirty water style or deep fried. I got mine deep fried. This dog fries up well and is also good in water; similary to Jerry’s in Elizabeth. To me it is preferable to a smaller Sabrett.

The Italian Hot Dog I would put in the upper echelon along with Tommy’s, Jimmy Buffs, and Big Blues. It is much better than what it looks like in the picture. Italian Hot Dogs are hard to photograph and I’m not good with pictures. The potatoes were good and plentiful. There were more but I ate some. The one thing the new owner changed was the potatoes which are cut in slices rather than chunks. The peppers were nice and soft and there were lots of them. Both red and green. The bread was fresh and the dogs are the best for this sandwich.

Every ingredient was as good as it could be. Everything was deep fried and made to order. You have to wait as each sandwich is made fresh. Ralph doesn’t like having ingredients sitting around in oil.

Chomp! serves breakfast, burgers, salads and sandwiches. I haven’t had them yet but they look good. And the fries are fresh cut, not the cheap frozen fries from Sysco. I like that Ralph drives all the way to Newark to get his hot dogs as Best Provisions doesn’t deliver to this area anymore.

I’m glad to have access to a top notch Italian Hot Dog in my area. And not just Italian style but regular as well. Chomp is another small business that deserves support. And I hope they do well for selfish reasons. Now I don’t have to drive to Union or Essex Counties to get my favorite sandwich.
