What a rip off for a $10 chicken over rice bowl! The portions are always small, and it seems like the food is pre-cooked, not made fresh on the spot. Only they would think this is acceptable, any New Yorker knows you get way more for just $8 back home!!

Amazing option. For just $10 you can get a large serving of seasoned rice, and a good portion of chicken, lamb and more. The white sauce is really good and balances out the heat of the spices well. Would recommend.

MY GOD THIS STREET MEAT IS AMAZING. $9 cash will get you a platter, salad, or gyro + drink. The lamb and chicken combo was fantastic. The white and red sauces are taaaaasty. What a good little gem downtown.

You can’t easily eat out for less than $20 unless you’re getting franchise fast food. This is the main exception I’ve found so far. You can get a plate of tasty Mediterranean chicken, rice, vegetables, and sauce for 10 dollars flat. It’s pretty good quality too. Just make sure to bring cash, because they don’t take card. That’s llikely how they keep the price so low.

They raised the price recently from $7 a platter to $8 a platter. Regardless, this is the best gyro I’ve had in CT. The guy who works there is extremely friendly and always gives extra sauce. I’ve been going regularly once a week for the last 3 months and haven’t once been disappointed. Keep up the good work!

Get the chicken and lamb with both white and red sauce, you won’t be disappointed. $8 for 2 meat combo and drink. One of the best lunch deals in the city. Cash only keeps the line moving quickly.

This is my Go-To lunch place in Hartford. The Chicken & Rice is amazing. Give it a shot.
They’re also there well beyond the usual lunch hour, which is great for those of us who can’t get out until mid afternoon some days.

I have tried thier chicken over rice today and it is yummy. The chicken is properly cooked and the size of the pieces is bite size. It’s just next to bank of America, so if you don’t have cash it’s pretty accessible to get it. There benches nearby, so if you would like to sit there and eat you can. As it is downtown finding a parking spot might be tricky but road side parking is available. For vegetarians there is mix vegetable rice option available in addition to the falafel rice. The staff is friendly and they are patient enough to hear what you are asking for. I requested for extra white sauce and they did not charge extra for it. In the other reviews I read they would give a soda along with the rice plate but I didn’t get one. Not sure if we need to ask for it. The place is not too crowded, so you can easily grab and go your food in 5-10 mins. All vegetarian and non vegetarian plates come for $8. Great price for the food. If you ever visit Hartford or work there it’s definitely worth trying. I will definitely go back and try thier other menu items.

I’m just putting this out there so people know they are still open as of 12/9/2020. I wasn’t sure since I know they shut down due to Covid, but I was really happy to see the green and red lights flashing when driving through downtown Hartford. The food is still as great as ever so go and support them if you can!
