First time enjoying this fine non-hotel restaurant. To be honest I had relatively low expectations for the food. However people at our table all attested to how great the burgers are so I caved and ordered a Swiss Mushroom Burger with chips. It did not disappoint AT ALL.
Eileen provided super good service for an unruly 12-16 people. That was no small feat but she handled us with all our demands patiently and timely with a smile.
My only small gripe and most the people there was that the room temperature. To their defense it was subzero outside

Food was really lackluster and the place could really use a good overhaul. The place is old and really shows its age; from the cracks in the tile, to the covering missing off the side of the booths and wires draping down out of ceilings. Waitress was really friendly and attentive.

The old/new Wayland hotel & bar has been restored, tin ceiling, etc.
Everyone including the owner so welcoming.
The Burgers are simply Amazing!!!
I haven’t had one this good in years.
In our travels we hunt out the great burgers, we had heard about the Wayland Hotels burger, they didn’t disappoint, the burger is way bigger than the bun, cooked to perfection! My husband finished, I could not. We came back yesterday I had the best Ruben I’ve had in years, I could hardly get my mouth around it! Great Rye bread.
Just a great place to stop for a bite to eat in a very friendly town

As others have mentioned, The Wayland Hotel is dated. If you want some New Age Bar, go to Grand Rapids.
The food is good, the staff is polite, portions are above average, and the prices are reasonable.

Has that hometown bar vibe. Burgers were HOT, delicious, and were a good size, but service was good/ok. Needed a salt shaker, none were out to grab, and nobody came by to check on us or our food until at least 10 minutes after our dinner was placed before us by one of the cooks. Saw other bar patrons sit and wait a bit of time before they were greeted. Bartender was nice, but could be a bit more attentive when there were not many patrons inside. If around town again, would easily give another try.

Really nice atmosphere. Fast friendly service. And the burgers are big on flavor with just the right amount of juices oozing from the meat without making the buns soggy. Would definitely recommend this place for a good juicy bar Burger.

This is exactly what a small town bar and grill looks like. Overall, the service was good and so was the food.
I’d like to give this a 4 star rating but am settling for a 2 do to the response from the woman running the food. My daughter’s food was short on fries and she politely asked for the plate to filled like the other burger plates. The runner actually told my daughter to eat my son’s fries from his plate. Wrong response…

Looking for a great burger, this is the place. Such a variety but the Hotel burger is a favorite. I wish the fries were cooked a little more crispy. Great weekly specials, especially taco Tuesday. Love that they have brightened up the inside.

No doubt one of the best burgers I’ve ever had! More than 100% satisfied with my Friday night dinner. Their burgers are wide and flat, which I’m really a fan of, because it’s much easier to hold and eat that way! I always get the Fry Burger, which has onion rings and thousand island sauce in there, extremely scrumptious.
