Sal’s Pizzeria in Dover is more than just a pizza shop — it’s an authentic Italian dining experience. From the moment you walk in, you can tell this is a family-owned restaurant that takes pride in their food and service.
Their pizza is hands down the best in the area. It’s true New York–style — thin, flavorful, and perfectly baked. Pro tip: dine in and enjoy it fresh out of the oven for the full experience. Absolutely worth it.
The subs are phenomenal. The meatball sub is rich and satisfying, and the Italian capicola and ham sub is packed with flavor and made with fresh ingredients. Their strombolis are expertly prepared, golden, and delicious every time.
What truly sets Sal’s apart is the service and atmosphere. The restaurant is spotless, the staff is polite and attentive, and they genuinely care about your dining experience. They greet you with placemats at your table, let you know about free fountain drink refills, and check in to make sure everything is perfect — something that’s rare to find these days. If a mistake ever happens, they go above and beyond to make it right.
Their chicken parmesan and spaghetti with meatballs are better than any chain restaurant — yes, even better than Olive Garden — and better than any diner I’ve tried in York.

The food is plentyful and it has amazing taste to it. It’s not the typical pizza shop. The food is made love, care and respect. The people that work there are extremely friendly and kind. I love how they will make chicken for our cats. They explained to us on their ordering system, they have a button that says chicken for the pups. You need to order from this local pizza shop, they never disappoint!

I picked up just a cheese pizza. My garden is in full bloom and figured everyone could top their own pizza. The crust was very good, it had that crunch factor, was cooked perfectly a very good pie! The people working were friendly! Lots of yummy pics included.

Thought I’d give this place a try as I pass it all the time. My order got pushed back 15 minutes due to it being busy, but there were not any other customers as I picked it up. I ordered a deep dish pizza, lightly cooked. The pizza was borderline burnt and the taste was lackluster. Very bland sauce and the crust was hard. I would have been more understanding had they actually been busy, but they were not.

I was riding my motorcycle today and I’m near Dover PA when it starts to rain so I see a Restaurant named Sal’s and decide to eat lunch and wait for the rain to stop. So, the first good sign is that I was able to park my bike under the roof overhang to keep it dry. Next, I order a sub and fries. I came out super-fast and I noticed how nice the bread looked. The sub was nicely built and and bread was to die for! Even the fries were outstanding!! I will make a point to eat there anytime I’m riding anywhere near Sal’s!

We are from out of town and happened on Sal’s on our way to another Italian place. Thank God the other was closed or I never would have gotten to experience Sal’s. We ordered 2 slices of cheese pizza, mozzerella sticks, spaghetti with meat sauce, and lasagna. The food was amazing and the portions were huge! Well worth the money! Staff was super friendly as well. Wish we lived closer because Sal’s would have been my go to for great Italian food!!

Spent way too much money at this place to be given 6 fries in a bag with tenders and fries. They dont care if youre a frequent customer either. We spend at least 60 dollars per week at this place and they dont care at all. You guys couldn’t be decent enough to give me a large fry to split among the 3 sets of chicken tenders and ff that we had with 6 fries in them. But no, that was just me asking too much right? From a place I visit once a week at least. You all know me by face. After years of being a customer you guys just acted so rude. Ive never called and asked for anything like I did today and immediately im shut down? Yeah im good. You guys dont need my business anymore. Genuinely am shocked at how you guys treated me.

Id love for the owner to actually reach out to me. Customer for longer than the kid was working the register thats for sure. Started when we moved to dover 11 years ago so I doubt you were there with your attitude then.
Oh and to the cook who creepily stares through the cooking window all the time and then who came out to hear what my complaint was about, maybe give better portions. Its not because the bags small either. The last 6 months to a year the portion sizes have sucked. Do better.

I ordered a contactless delivery on a Monday night at 645pm and live about three minutes from sals. I’ve ordered once before from this location and I received a text message saying my food was delivered. It took a very long time to get my food this time. I had resorted to going out every ten minutes and checking my porch periodically bc it was taking so long. I thought I heard a vehicle, no text, went out and food was there. My food was ice cold. The cheese on my pasta laid on it like a rock bc of it being so cold. Disappointed and most certainly feel like I wasted 30$. Will not make this mistake again.

The food at Sal’s has been exceptional each time I e been here! I knew to the area and have found my new favorite spot! I have been disappointed with places that have great reviews but you must try this place! Very friendly staff…goes above and beyond expectations!!! LOVE!!!
