We recently celebrated a friend’s birthday at Persis. While the drinks & the ambience were good, the food suffered.
The aam panna cocktail was brilliant, as tropical ‘n exotic as expected! The kala khatta did not ring in the authenticity except for the color may be? The Haywards 5000 was truly enjoyable, glad it’s available at this restaurant!
The dahi puri, karivepaku chicken, were good. The paneer tikka pasta, vijayawada chicken biryani, the Persis mixed grill, chicken tikka kabab, the samosas, the cut mirchi bajji, chicken mandakini, the dosas were all just average. The shrimp in the mixed grill was overcooked and hard as rock.
We were a large group and after a couple of those yummy and heady drinks, our table did get loud as we erupted into laughter several times over. But the restaurant was not packed, so they tolerated the joyful ruckus we created. We appreciate their patience!
We however did experience an issue where a teetotaler was served a cocktail instead of a mocktail. And instead of apologizing, the server refused to accept fault and tried to pin it as our oversight!
Assuming that your customer is gullible is absolutely incredulous!
In my opinion, many of the dishes are overpriced… Persis has a lot of work cut out for them if their vision is to become a fine dine kind of restaurant.
Our server has helped us with recommendations,
We got the Chicken Manchurian as the appetizer and got the bullet naan to pair.
The naan really paired well with my main course, the chicken tikka masala. It was amazing! Every bite was just as good as the first. We ended the meal with their Gulab Jamun ice cream and it was really tasty!
All in all, I’m definitely coming back to try more new things (new to me lol)
The chicken tikka biryani was even worse it didn’t taste like biryani in any way. The chicken was bland, almost like it was just boiled, and there wasn’t even enough salt. And seriously, who puts bell peppers in biryani even if it’s a Tikka? Even the kala katta was overpriced and nowhere close to authentic.
This was honestly the biggest disappointment I’ve had at an Indian restaurant in ages, and I felt compelled to leave a review. 2 stars just for the ambience.
Despite there being only 3 tables occupied, we had to remind them 3 times to get the drinks. They were finally served while we are almost done with the food. We weren’t able to finish even 1 item completely that we ordered. Not coming back to this location again.
The staff was incredibly warm, attentive, and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend this place if you’re craving authentic and flavorful Indian food!
