I was recommended by my family The Martinez. Authentic Puerto Rican, food freshly made into perfection. I will definitely recommend this spot. It’s small and cozy and I felt like I was home with family. Come here brought me back to PR and as you see my pictures hopefully you can see what I’m talking about. It’s an experience. You have to try yourself.

We are a Puerto Rican family that LOVES eating here this place is an ABSOLUTE GEM. it tastes like HOME , The bacalaitos are INSANE , the pernil bien juicy the pollo too. This is the first Puerto Rican restaurant in Bayonne nj , it’s the tastiest hole in the wall. The food is insanely authentic. My grandfather loved every bit of his meal . We watched this place get worked on and when they opened we had to come get a plate. The pricing is amazing , the food is awesome. before some complain , it takes as much time to be cooked as it would if you made dinner , why ? Because it’s FRESH & that’s a PLUS.

I was excited to learn an authentic Puerto Rican restaurant opened in Bayonne. I ordered delivery and have to say, I appreciated the careful thought that was put into packaging the food to ensure no spillage, and that the cuchifritos (assorted fried foods) remained crispy and warm. As it was my first time ordering, I selected all of my favorites to get a good sense of the menu. I ordered morcilla, alcapurria, bacalaítos, rellenos de papa and for the main dish, pernil with arroz con gandules.
From the cuchifritos, my favorites were the rellenos de papa and morcilla. The rellenos de papa is everything I love about this dish, crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside and well seasoned. The morcilla was also very crisp on the outside and creamy on the inside with the perfect hint of spice that gives the morcilla its distinctive flavor. The alcapurria was perfectly cooked and crispy but not as seasoned as I’m accustomed to. The bacalaìtos was a huge serving. It was a bit on the doughy side and not as crispy as I’m used to. I miss that crunch you get when you bite into a freshly fried bacalaito from one of the kioskos in Luquillo.
Now for the main dish- the pernil with arroz con gandules. I loved that they included complimentary slices of avocado. What Puerto Dish is ever complete without aguacate! The pernil was lean and not fatty like other Latin restaurants here in Bayonne. It was well seasoned and included the cuerito. The rice was plain, no ham or Spanish olives in it like I’m accustomed to, but it was fluffy and cooked to perfection. All in all, everything was indeed fresh and authentic. It’s a much welcomed addition to the limited restaurant options in Bayonne.

The food was delicious. Authentic Puerto Rican food They just opened a few months ago. Met the owner who was so kind and hospitable and recommended the shrimp with yellow rice and gandules. We also got an Alcapurria with yuca (but they have guineo too). We also had Empanadas with chicken (they have beef too). They’re also on UberEats and DoorDash. I’m looking forward to my next visit.

This is a gem, hidden in plain view. Get ready for a warm inviting atmosphere. Cesar and Patti, are amazing, kind hosts. We were greeting and seated immediately and soon we were eager to look at the menu. The scent of homemade old school permeated the air, my mouth watered. We ordered stew chicken, red kidney beans, amarillos, white rice, and grilled chicken. They also shared samples of fish in an amazing sauce, guineitos y mollejas en escabeche. Patti is an amazing chef, taught by her grandmother at an early age. Let me tell you, she put both her feet in it and I will be back soon. We were treated like family and now we are. Do yourself a favor and visit them, you will keep coming back for more. They do have a few tables in there, and carry out is available. On the street parking.

I was really looking forward to trying this place, but unfortunately, the food just didn’t meet expectations. The pernil lacked flavor, the yucca fries were underwhelming, and the jibarito had way too much mayo—it just didn’t come together for me.
To be honest, I was surprised this is labeled as a Puerto Rican restaurant. As someone familiar with the cuisine, it didn’t reflect the flavors or quality I associate with Puerto Rican food. If it had been presented as a different type of concept, I might have been more understanding, but this felt misleading and honestly disappointing.
I rarely leave negative reviews because I understand how tough the food business is, but this experience was frustrating enough that I ended up tossing the food and cooking at home instead. It felt like a waste of money, which really bothered me as personally I hate to waste food. The staff was nice which is why it’s two stars. Personally if the pernil isn’t up to standards there’s no point for me.
