Bart, our server made our meal excellent. He even sang happy birthday to me! We will be back and are so grateful for our son’s recommendation.
Ours was some kind of private room that felt like something in a vacation. It was nice and quiet, even though the door to the rest of the restaurant was open. The server was okay but he did smell like cigarettes. I was under the impression that this is NOT that kind of restaurant.
The food wasn’t as good as I thought it would be. I liked the salmon but goodness did the mozzarella sticks and chicken parm leave some flavor to be desired.
I hate to say that because the atmosphere in this place is wonderful. The candles and flowers are such a cute touch along with the dim lighting.
Nice place, we went out to celebrate some life accomplishments. This place is a lot pricier than something I’d usually go to, having been a chef, I can make pretty much whatever I want at home.
We had a res at 8, restaurant was busy, took 15 minutes for a server and waters. Another 20 for drinks to come out, so it’s already getting a little close to them closing. I’ll say the drinks were strong, which I’m a fan of. I’d say the appetizers came out at 9.
The featured oysters were fine, the escargot was good. The bus boy smacked me in the leg with a chair he was moving but I didn’t make any sort of issue about it, not the end of the world, mistakes happen.
Dinner was a different story. The veal was recommended all over the reviews page, so we split the fried veal and the broiled seafood platter. Never had a stranger meal in my life. The scallops were either dipped in sand, or they didn’t bother to was them, likely the latter. The rest was just cold and tasteless. I don’t waste food, so it was eaten. The veal we couldn’t handle. It was just soaked in oil, tasted like carnival food.
I never complain, I don’t like free stuff. But when the waitress asked how everything was and I had to be honest. She thought I was joking at first. The manager came over, she was very nice and apologetic. Comped the veal and two drinks I believe. Also gave us a gift card but I’m just going to give that to someone else to use.
I hate that this place wasn’t what I had hoped for because on the way I expressed to my partner how great it would be to finally find a great new to us restaurant. Maybe next time.
Choosing to dine in The Queen Victoria Room, their main dining area, we found ourselves in a space that was both elegant and inviting. The atmosphere, complete with tasteful music and decor, made us feel immediately at home. Our waitress was not only wonderfully kind but also incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. Her passion for food reassured us that we were in expert hands.
I began the evening with a classic Old Fashioned, leaving the preparation to the discretion of the house. Among all the Old Fashioneds I’ve tried in the Lehigh Valley, Randall’s version stood out as one of the finest, leading me to indulge in a second—a promising start.
Our selection of appetizers included Foxley River Oysters from PEI, Canada, served with both cocktail and mignonette sauce; Calamari Fritti, lightly breaded with marinara on the side; and grilled Brussels sprouts topped with Parmesan cheese. The oysters were exquisite, their crisp texture enhanced by the mignonette’s garlic and vinegar notes, perfectly balanced by the cocktail sauce. The calamari, tender and delicately fried, clearly demonstrated freshness and careful cooking. While I didn’t favor the Brussels sprouts—Parmesan isn’t my thing—my brother vouched for their quality.
The main event was the Lobster Française, featuring lobster tails dipped in a delicate egg batter, accompanied by shallots, mushrooms, tomatoes, and finished with a lemon caper sauce. The lobster was flawlessly fried, and the fragrant white wine sauce, combined with the capers and other flavors, made for an unforgettable experience. The sauce’s richness was expertly balanced, maintaining its fresh and unique taste throughout the meal.
To cap off the evening, I savored a mug of black coffee alongside Vanilla Crème Brûlée, garnished with blueberries. The blueberries’ slight tartness highlighted the crème brûlée’s smooth sweetness, providing a delightful end to the meal.
Overall, my experience at Randall’s ranks among the best in my recent travels, thanks to the sociable and well-informed server. I will undoubtedly return and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a remarkable dining experience in the area.
