The young gentleman was absolutely wonderful with customer service. The restaurant was clean including behind the counter. Of course there’s a wait when you’re cooking fresh food (just like when we cook our own food ), I don’t understand why anyone would complain about that lol… take your time so it’s right! Thank you for an amazing first time experience. Delicious!
The staff was super friendly, and the cashier, Charlotte, was truly the cherry on top. She made our visit worthwhile with her warm personality and great conversation while our food was being prepared. It’s always nice meeting someone genuine, especially a fellow Jersey native!
The restaurant itself was spotless, and you could tell everything was made fresh to order. The menu has so many great options, and for the quality and portion sizes, the prices are an absolute steal! I ordered the chicken wing dinner entrée with 7-cheese mac and cheese and bourbon yams—every bite was incredible. I also tried the lunch special sliders, which came with three nicely sized sliders and Cajun fries, plus the soul rolls (egg rolls stuffed with mac and cheese and yams — genius idea and so good!). To drink, I got the Uptown, a refreshing 32oz drink that’s another amazing deal.
Everything was delicious, and the portions were so generous I couldn’t even finish — which just means I had more to enjoy later!
If you’re looking for delicious, affordable soul food in a clean, friendly, and welcoming environment, I highly recommend A Mother’s Touch Bistro. I’ll most definitely be back!
I really enjoyed it.
I only pass this place if I’m taking a detour from work and I finally hit the u turn and went.
Parking SUCKS know that.
I’m vegetarian so I got like 90% of all the sides.
What I liked the most is they did not add sugar to savory dishes! This food was close to what I make at home. It’s plain and simple but very good! I ate everything. And my meat eater friend ate it all too!
If I pass this way again, I will stop in. But I doubt I go out of my way to come again because it’s so close to what I already make at home.
Maybe it’s more of a catering place for when you have multiple mouths to feed and don’t want to cook but you must have good food.
I also want to give a special shoutout to Ebony for the excellent customer service. She was friendly, welcoming, and made sure everything was taken care of. Great food and great service definitely makes this a spot I’ll keep coming back to.
Just a tip for newcomers. I would order ahead & pickup. The wait was about 25 minutes. Which i didnt mind because that means its fresh! There are no bathrooms & only outdoor seating available for up to 4 people. So keep that in mind if youre coming to eat in person. If I lived in NJ I would definitely be picking up food to go often.
When I called in, the person on the phone rushed me through my order and ended the call without a thank you or any courtesy. The food itself also fell short of expectations:
• The salmon was so overly seasoned that it was difficult to enjoy, and the rice and beans were dry.
• The whiting sandwich only came with two pieces of fish, whereas I’m used to receiving 3–5 pieces, especially at this price point.
• I specifically requested plain fries, but they were heavily seasoned with parsley and Old Bay.
• The yams were the most disappointing — they were very dark in color, tasted sour with too much nutmeg, and were inedible. Even my two-year-old spit them out.
For a $70 order, I was expecting much higher quality and better service. I wanted to bring this to your attention in hopes that it can be addressed for future customers.
