Welcome to Dr. Bombay’s Underwater Tea Party, a community tea house and the cornerstone for our international women’s education program The Learning Tea . Nestled in Atlanta’s historic Candler Park neighborhood, we’ve been serving up tea, desserts and lasting memories since 2007. Shortly after establishing Dr. Bombay’s, co-owner Katrell Christie founded The Learning Tea, which continues to offer housing, educational and empowerment opportunities for young women in the majestic Indian town of Darjeeling. Whether you’re enjoying our signature high tea service, a cup of coffee or one of our delicious desserts, you’ll be part of a delightful experience for your senses and a movement that emphasizes giving a hand up instead of a hand out.
Cozy, offbeat cafe serves coffee, pastries & even high tea in a homey space filled with books.

This place is Amazing! The food, all made in house, is delicious, fresh, and warm. The tea is flavorful and perfect. I came here with my daughter for a Mommy daughter date, it was so fun!
A lady named Pretty (name fitting!) served us and we had the the very best service.
We used to go to the Candler Park location. While we enjoyed it, this move seems to have really taken the place up a few notches. I am looking forward to our next visit!
The only thing I would add would be the tiny spoons for stirring in cream & honey. They do provide honey if you ask for it. It seems like they have worked hard to make improvements based on past reviews!
I would recommend!
The vibe: was super cute and relax, perfect place to hang out and chat, or read a book.
Service: We waited around 10 minutes before anyone came out from the kitchen to greet us.
We got the Caroline and was informed after paying that the price went up from $20-$23 ( the price list on the wall wasn’t updated ).
They charged $1 for honey but also informed me that AFTER paying! Honey should be complimentary for tea!
The food: When the plate arrived, the food looked like they were thrown onto the plate. They couldn’t use a nice tray or the tier tray? The food unfortunately looked nothing like the photos, were pretty unappetizing and did not taste good. Everything was dry , stale. The quiche looks like it was more like a flat bread and old.
The cream & jelly were missing from the set. We didn’t realize that until we finished the set.
The tea pot was tea bags , I was expecting loose leaf tea for the tea set. It was truly a disappointment
Overall it’s not a spot I would revisit, Esp with so many options in Atlanta
Pretty and Gin were the ladies that served us & went above and beyond to take care of us! It was great!!
They served us quiche, 2 different kinds of sandwiches, scones, clotted cream (more like a whipped cream or Devonshire cream than a traditional clotted cream), fruit & an assortment of pastries. They also served us 2 different kinds of teas. Everything was delicious!
The space itself is very cozy and has a great vibe.
I highly recommend to anyone who’s wanting a great tea experience:)
. The quiche was a size of a quarter and had no crust. And the scones were hard and Burt.
The quality of the food was very poor.
I had to ask twice for a cup that was not chipped. I eventually received a coffee cup. The tea was served in a metal old dented tea pot with a led that didn’t close.
. Absolutely nothing special about this place. Don’t waste your money and time. If you want a real traditional high tea go somewhere else.
For the service: the staff was really nice and helpful when choosing the tea. Water wasn’t offered until well into the service and I had to ask for milk for my tea. Not a huge deal. The staff was super friendly though, and it was a busy day.
For the tea and treats: there was a large selection of teas. I thought my tea was a bit weak. I’m used to loose leaf tea, but I understand that it can be messy and most Americans are used to bagged tea, which is fine. It could also have been the variety I chose. I went with herbal, and you need a lot more tea to get it steeped right. I bet a black tea would have been nice and strong and there were over four black tea varieties.
The sandwiches and scones were delicious. Clotted cream is super hard to get in the states, so there was a tasty homemade whipped cream instead. I thought the cookies were a little stale and very comparable to something I would get at the supermarket. I also thought there would be more variety of treats and sandwiches on the tray.
I think I will give it another try because I love the concept and love supporting small businesses. It also could have been the day that I was there as it was a busy Saturday.
