First time trying this sub shop, shout out to Nancy for bringing me one! Now, onto the review. Overall, it was a pretty good sub shop. I had the 5 in 1 sandwich, the bread to meat ratio was a little off as it was way more bread than meat which can be a little off putting to some. The bread was pretty dense. Also, the sauce on the sub was pretty good but had lots of vinegar so be aware if you’re aren’t big on a strong acid taste.
Overall I would give them a 7.5 and would be willing to try a different sandwich!

This is the definition of ‘old school’ – a roadside sandwich shop with homemade dessert on display, still on the baking sheet with plastic wrap over it.
The sandwiches are made by layers, from a low of 5 meat & 1 cheese layer (5/1) up to 21 & 5. That’s got to be a mouthful.
Service is fast! The door hadn’t closed before I was greeted by the man who made my sandwich. I went with the popular 10/2 & a can of Squirt.
The steady stream of people coming through the door of this obviously family-owned & -operated place are greeted with a friendly “hello, how are doing today?” neighborly salutation.
There is a counter with 8 stools to eat at.
If you get yours to-go, wait until you get to your destination to start or you will be wearing some of it. Delicious with a side of drippy. Great for licking your fingers but not for the steering wheel.
The music was good, too. Good volume with early rock & roll: 50s & 60s tunes, mostly, some very early 70s.

Landed at Detroit Metro the other day, picked up the rental car, and headed straight to Vinnie’s, 1.5 miles away, for a 10/2 sub–it’s my tradition! Pulled into the sub-shop during a busy lunch rush, with a line seven deep. In just four minutes, I was at the counter ordering. This place runs like a well-oiled machine, churning out the best subs around in a cool Mom & Pop sub shop!
In no hurry, so I settled at the counter with my sub, a Vernors, and a bag of Better Made chips. Vinnie’s is always my first stop in town, and it never disappoints!

I found this place near the DTW Airport because come on…airport food kicks rocks. One thing about this place is its own beauty of being an old-fashioned sandwich shop, many which have faded into history. Vinnie’s is still going strong. I had to figure out what I call “Detroit fractions” which are posted on the wall for how sandwiches are ordered: the front number is the layers of meat; the back number is the layers of cheese (as, 10/2 and so on). FANTASTIC sandwiches whether you’re on your way to or from the airport, Detroit, or wherever you’re going…I highly recommend!!

This place absolutely blew me away! I honestly can’t believe I hadn’t come here sooner. The subs were out of this world—packed with flavor, fresh ingredients, and made just right. The best part? The price was so affordable it’s hard to even remember what I paid because I was too focused on how good everything tasted. It’s rare to find food this delicious that doesn’t break the bank. Definitely a hidden gem, and I’ll be coming back again and again!

Hands (around the sub) The Best Sub Sandwiches money can buy!! The family are wonderful and accommodating. Im a car hauler and when I know Im passing by Vinnie’s, I make a point to stop and get the Iconic “Im that Guy” sub. Italian with meatballs!! Mom will tell you… “You can’t do that because one is hot and the other is cold.” However, they will accommodate you !! Great Sandwiches, sides, and they keep their menus fresh. Detroit products are sold here!! Go get you a Sub, you won’t regret it!!
