Outstanding meal and wine pairing. Came here on a late November night for an anniversary dinner after having done no research – just a google search – while visiting Lenox and looking for a place to eat. Was blown away by the food. Seasonal autumn New England menu and everything was delicious. Flavors, presentation, service, and wine recommendations were five-star, like something you’d find in Boston or NYC. Has to be one of the best, most creative restaurants in the Berkshires. A real gem.

If you go to Alta during the summer, I’d recommend making a reservation first. We walked by just as it opened for dinner and even though most of the chairs were empty, we were told they were fully booked. We managed to get seats at the quaint bar where they served a full dinner.
The delicious meal was served in larger portions than expected. The crab cakes were crispy balls served with cream corn that tasted like chowder—a kind of deconstructed crab chowder, if you will. The radicchio and greens on top of the green pea risotto gave it a nice texture. The herb-encrusted cod was cooked well. Both dishes had a heavy buttery flavor, which made for a rich meal—one I’d prefer to eat leisurely at a table rather than squeezed into a bar, which quickly became very crowded.

What a great restaurant in the heart of Lenox!! Aurelien, a most friendly owner, has created a little slice of happiness for your taste buds as the sauces to his dishes are amazing!! Even his turkey burgers are juicy and tasty! Lisa’s specialty drinks, created by Lisa, the bartender, is different and a spicy delight! The desserts are to die for!!!! A friendly and fun venue combined with fantastic foods for everyone’s taste!!!

We came here for our anniversary dinner after realizing Cello was booked. All I can say is WOW! We were so impressed with the amazing food and the fantastic service. We wanted to split everything from the soup of the day to the salad to the entree and dessert, and the staff were incredibly accommodating to this. There wasn’t one part of our meal that felt inferior, everything was absolutely delicious and we will definitely be back!!

I’ve lived here three years and I’ve been hearing about Alta But in the summer, it’s so hard to get in. It’s always busy so I was pleased that I got a 645 dinner reservation.
The good news is, I won’t feel that I’m missing something by not going in the future
The atmosphere is somewhere between a nursing home and the DMV. You can hardly hear any music – The atmosphere is oppressive I was seated in a back room that can only Be compared to where the principal would send you for in school
I had the special which was pork that was So overcooked it was closer to hard tack – The sauce was good, however, and that helped
It came with spinach that I think came right out of Popeyes can and was nostalgic as it reminded me of my mother’s overcooked spinach in the 50s – when you can serve a vegetable with an ice cream scoop, there’s
I would have sent it back, but that would have meant that I had to stay in that cafeteria like room longer
The bartender, maitre de and server were all terrific and though I hate leaving a bad review when they had nothing to do with the experience (and of course it’s only one meal), but consistency matters and had i seen a review like mine I would have had a better experience

We had a fantastic meal at Alta. We accidentally made a reservation for the wrong date and the owner was able to accommodate us. The food and service were all excellent and perfectly timed. We felt welcomed and valued as customers and hope to go back when in Lenox again.

Had our anniversary dinner here and loved the food, service, and the very dog friendly staff, especially our waitress Emma. She is super sweet, attentive, brought out a bowl of water for our dog, and surprised us with complimentary macarons for our special day. The hummus, Mediterranean salad were delicious and the flight of white wine pared well with the salmon. The roasted pork cheeks are tender and delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant.
