Best home fries i have had in years and cool vibe…awesome tunes..and friendly staff but prepare yourself for the political onslaught of the far left. I am a middle ground kinda girl so the anti-Trump sign was off putting and not inclusive, but again good breakfast but a little pricey…but still a solid 4 star! I would go again.

Possibly the most extensive vegan brunch menu I’ve ever come across and the food was so good! (So good that I made a diversion to go back the following day on my drive out of Vermont). Loved the inclusive vibes and the welcoming atmosphere. Next time I’m back over this way I’ll definitely be heading back. (Vegan tofu, sausage, pancake sliders?! I mean how could I not want to go back…?!)

This hidden gem in Hartland is amazing! I had breakfast there while on vacation from NY and let me tell you this place is great! Good prices, large portions, friendly staff, and incredible ambiance! Options for vegans or meat lovers make it great for anyone. Yes it is a small spot, but that is a part of its charm!! Can’t wait to return for breakfast/brunch!!

Let me begin by saying that I thank Hartland Diner for the joy it has brought to my family. Everytime we pass through Hartland, we joke, “let’s get something to eat!” or I threaten to take my son there for his birthday. However, no inside joke is worth this dining experience.

Everyone is accurate talking about the high prices. It’s the most expensive diner that I’ve ever been to. The prices seem like satire. They charge by the slice for toast! Not like the fancy avocado toast kind of the thing, where it’s a mini sandwich: a piece of dry toast is like $3 or $4 per piece.

What most fail to mention is just how bad the food is. Cheap Sysco ingredients like artificial maple flavored sausage or that horrendous liquidified margarine coating their “home fries”. That stuff (like for many) is hell on my stomach and unfortunately I had to prolong my visit, because I couldn’t leave before using the restroom. I feel bad getting cross with my son when he didn’t want to eat his breakfast taco, because he was correct in not wanting to eat, but I certainly got my comeuppance after trying to eat his and my wife’s avoided potatoes.

Usually if I see a Black Lives Matter or Palestinian flag in front of a business, I’m ready to support. But remember, there’s no ethical consumption under capitalism, so just go to Maplefields instead.

Breakfast place with overpriced food. We got there and had to sit at the counter because all other tables(4 or 5 tables) were full. Sat for 5-10 minutes before someone even looked our way. This is when we got our menus.. we looked over the menu and figured out what we wanted. I thought that because they had us wait so long for the menus, they would be more attentive when it came to ordering. It was like they were avoiding taking the order. I had to grab a person to ask if we could order. The prices were very expensive, in my opinion.. $6 for an 8-oz glass of orange juice poured from a container you would buy at the store. The pancakes were big about 10-12 inch diameter but were $16-25 depending on your choice. For the 2 of us, the bill was $45 for an oj, an english muffin sandwich, a coffee, and a pancake. The food was only adequate, nothing to rave about. The atmosphere was political, with pictures and cardboard cutouts of bernie sanders, obama, and other political figures, and what i would consider woke ideals. I would not go back again and wish i chose someplace else to eat in the first place.

Went for a nice breakfast a few days ago, the lady that was taking orders seemed to ignore me? Once I was settled in though, I got my food and it was okay. Nothing crazy, just your average homemade breakfast. Definitely a little expensive. However, I also overheard some of the people in the back talking about politics and rather vulgar language. I don’t mind politics or anything, however im not quite sure if breakfast is really the time for it, let alone in a restaurant/diner. Nothing against anyone here, but I will not be coming back. Im not comfortable with my kids being around such language.

Hartland Diner is my favorite food establishment in Vermont. There are many reviews complaining about the prices. I full heartedly believe that the woman who owns the diner, and does all of the cooking single handily, is paying her employees a living wage. If you see the prices or the political affiliations as a red flag, you are the problem. YOU are the red flag. This is a place where they are putting their money where their money is. It takes one quick google search of an establishment you’ve never been to to decide if it’s somewhere you want to patronize. If the way she is running her business upsets you- stay home. There are plenty of us out there happy to pay the prices and tip 30% on top of it. Keep fighting the good fight Hartland Diner.

7.15.22 Random stop on our journey to Island Pond. And I absolutely hated all the political stuff posted all over the restaurant but I found it hilarious. I did find it entertaining and because I came to eat that’s what I’m judging. The staff was very friendly and my coffee cane out fast. They have little toys all over the place to play with. Fun and different. My breakfast was great. I enjoyed my food and I’m so glad I had the opportunity to dine here. Definitely a great stop.

The best diner anywhere. Fabulous food including delicious, plate-sized pancakes of all sorts, a complete eggs Benedict menu, and everything in between, including a $5 menu for more “typical” diner offerings. The pies are out of this world. And, the atmosphere is fantastic. This woman owned diner with a completely inclusive environment is a must see destination for any trip to Vermont. And, the owner’s commitment to fair wages and creating a great work environment should be supported with our dining dollars.

Friends took us here when we were visiting the area. I loved the kitschy diner decorations and the unabashed display of their political leanings. Both the food and the service were very good. And I loved that they have a full vegan menu. They only serve breakfast, but they do it well. A friend ordered the vegan raspberry pancake and it was humongous. It was easily the size of four or five regular pancakes. Other friends ordered the vegan wrap, and I got the Irish Bene.
