I asked for kiwi and mango on my bowl, and I only received three small pieces of kiwi. Considering Playa Bowls charges $1 per topping, this felt extremely disappointing. If kiwi was limited or unavailable, I would’ve appreciated being told upfront. I’ve been a loyal customer for almost 10 years, and this experience was honestly unacceptable. The presentation was poor, and the portion size did not reflect what was paid for. Employees should be better trained on proper servings and presentation. This was not the quality I’ve come to expect.

This is the third time now, that I order & my bowl is TOO frozen. The base of my bowl is frozen, and it looks like freezer burn. Because of this there is no taste. This is unacceptable, and I’m paying to just eat the toppings at this point. Would not recommended! Maybe a different location! I let this bowl sit for 40 minutes & it’s still frozen.

I visited on a slow day the store was not busy despite me being the only customer in there my order was still rushed. They had to remake my bowl entirely which was ok. But to get the second bowl and it still not be right was upsetting. As a former playa employee I was extremely disappointed with my bowl as the coconut base was not re -blended to the proper consistency after being refrigerated for a long time. It was just thrown in the bowl and covered with granola staff did not even pat it down into the bowl. Very unsatisfied.

I just returned home from Playa Bowls in Millburn, and unfortunately, I had one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve ever had at your establishment.
I placed an order for four bowls, spending nearly $50, and was shocked to see that each bowl was only half-filled. The acai was watery, full of icy flakes, and the presentation was severely lacking. It was clear while watching the bowls being made that the acai tub was nearly empty. Instead of replacing it with a fresh batch, the staff added some sort of liquid to stretch what was left, clearly compromising both quality and portion size.
What made this worse is that we waited quite a while for our order, despite the store being empty and having three employees behind the counter. Given the cost and our previous positive experiences at other locations, this visit was extremely disappointing.

amazing store with amazing taste cody and nate are the best employees and made me a perfect bowl that had an amazing açaí consistency and gave me just the right amount of fruit and it was all around a super pleasant experience. My one gripe was the music it seemed repetitive as every time i come in it’s always rotating the same songs

Unless you want to digest pieces of broken glass in your smoothie, I would stay far away from here. I ordered 3 of the same smoothies and when I took a sip, there was what I believed was ice that wasn’t blended well, so I spit it out and looked inside and discovered all three of my smoothies had small and big chunks of glass!!!! so I grabbed the smoothies from my coworkers who thankfully didn’t take a sip out of it yet and went back. I wanted to speak to the manager but there was only a shift lead on duty who wasn’t a help at all. I emailed the manager and got some bs response and the sad part is that the manager didn’t even ask if I was okay.I provided my phone number and never got a call . Even when I brought them back, I was still picking out glass in my smoothies. Then they’re trying to make it up to me by saying that they’ll give me rewards in my account. I’m not looking for anything for free. i’m posting this because I could of ended up in the hospital so just be careful

Severely Disappointing Experience at Playa Bowls Millburn – Multiple Errors and Terrible Management
This review is based on multiple visits to the Playa Bowls in Millburn, NJ, culminating in a truly unacceptable experience today, Sunday April 6, 2025. While we are typically loyal customers of Playa Bowls at other locations, the Millburn store has consistently made errors with our orders, and today’s visit was the final straw due to the incredibly poor customer service and attitude from the so-called manager.
Today, we ordered three bowls, and to our dismay, all three were made incorrectly. This is not an isolated incident, as we witnessed other customers entering the store also complaining about missing items in their bowls. This clearly points to a significant issue with training and attention to detail among the staff at this location.
However, the biggest disappointment was the interaction with the manager. When my wife politely pointed out the errors with our bowls, the manager was incredibly confrontational and gave her an attitude, even going so far as to suggest it was *her* fault. This is completely unprofessional and unacceptable.
Furthermore, this location seems to skimp on ingredients compared to other Playa Bowls we frequent. It felt like we were receiving significantly less for the same price.
Adding to the absurdity, my wife specifically asked for spinach in one of the bowls (as we have ordered at other locations without issue). The manager stated that spinach couldn’t be included in a bowl with protein. This is illogical, especially considering spinach is offered as an *add-in* option. Instead of incorporating it into the bowl as requested, we were given a *side* of spinach (as shown in the attached picture) because the manager claimed it couldn’t be blended in due to the protein content – which makes absolutely no sense.
The manager’s poor attitude wasn’t limited to our interaction. We witnessed her being similarly dismissive and confrontational with other customers. In one instance, another upset customer came in asking for granola on their bowl, only to be told by the manager that it couldn’t be added because the bowl contained protein. Despite the customer’s insistence, the manager initially refused before finally adding it. This inconsistency and the manager’s argumentative behavior were shocking.
The manager even attempted to excuse the repeated errors by stating that the staff were “all kids” and that customers needed to be patient. While we understand that staff may be young, this does not excuse consistent mistakes and certainly doesn’t justify a rude and confrontational attitude towards paying customers, especially when they are simply pointing out errors in their orders. My wife was, in fact, being patient until the manager became defensive and accusatory.
Finally, the music in the store was excessively loud, making it difficult to communicate with the staff and potentially contributing to the order errors.
This experience at the Playa Bowls in Millburn was incredibly frustrating and disappointing. The repeated errors, the subpar ingredient portions, and, most importantly, the appalling attitude and lack of professionalism from the manager are unacceptable. We are loyal Playa Bowls customers at other locations, but based on our consistent negative experiences at this particular store, and especially today’s encounter with the manager, we will be hesitant to return. We hope that someone in a higher position addresses the clear lack of training and the unacceptable customer service provided by the team at this Millburn location.

My bowl was amazing, however I was greeted with confusion and stares and to me that felt rude as a former playa employee I know how I should have been treated. Those guys were very rude

I ordered a playa bowl last Friday from this location and I will never return to this location ever again! It’s so disappointing because I genuinely enjoy playa bowls but this time was a terrible experience. After ordering online and receiving an email that it was ready I went inside to pick up to be told to wait about 20 mins. Okay so I waited after that I was given a bowl that looked like this. Terrible presentation and this was given to me without the Nutella and the pity drizzle that was given after my complaint of the Nutella that wasn’t given to me although I ordered it. On top of that I ordered double Nutella. Look at this bowl. This is crazy. I love playa bowls and take a picture and post every time. Look at the picture and presentation just terrible! Don’t get me started on how it tasted. Oh God the pitaya wasn’t blended well and the granola was mushy as if I ordered oatmeal. I’ve never had a terrible experience at any location. I was upset and told the worker and she told me nothing was wrong with the bowl and I had to go back and forth with her. I had one spoon of it and threw it out. $15 wasted!!!!! I’m so upset I need to go back this week and ask for a boss or manager at this point. I now have to travel to other locations for a better experience and bowl. This location needs to do better!

Lets just say… whoever made my playa bowl deserves the juiciest raise of their life… the fruits brought me back to when I vacationed in the Carribeans in 2018. Very fresh and delicious. This is Millburn’s greatest service in town. Shoutout to the owner for their smart selection in employees at their handcrafted skills in making our nutella bowls!!!
