More like Taco Gor-No. The ‘salsa’ was a cup of
watery tabasco sauce and most of the experience was cafe-style/self-serve, which would have been fine if I didn’t need to ask the staff to restock said self-serve items. Corn tortillas were stale and rubbery, toppings were a chaotic sprawl of mostly cilantro. We’re all for supporting local eateries but some spots need to tighten up their game and taco gordo fits that bill (which ours was too high for counter service.) If you want authentic and flavorful tacos, try El Cortijo or Casa Grande. For a head scratching dining experience with decent guacamole and a convenient location, taco gordo will suffice.

Good tacos in Burlington. Not tiny little trendy tacos. No place to park as most areas around but off you can find a spot or walk and take out it’s worth it.

Yesterday was our second time at Taco Gordo, and once again, the tacos were so good! The margaritas were delicious too. We arrived pretty late, close to closing time, but the staff were all so friendly and welcoming, we never felt rushed

The el pastor tacos are my favorite! Very casual unpretentious atmosphere. Great help and service, inexpensive very decent food. Guacamole is small portion but tasty. Precisely measured drinks,

We were visiting from California. My husband got Carne Asada taco with beans & rice and I got the Tinga with side of rice. I also got a margarita. We found the food just so so. I think we were hoping for more authentic freshly grilled but it wasn’t. We both found the rice pretty dry. They do have a good selection of hot sauce. We suggest adding pico de gallo. We did have to wait at least an hour to get on on a Fri night. The atmosphere is busy and bar like. You can tell this is a go to place for college age adults given the area. It would be nice if they had those outdoor heaters on cold nights for those having to wait outside for a table to come available as there really is no space to wait inside. We ate at the bar because after waiting so long, we just wanted to eat. The margarita was $10 and tasty.

My hopes were very high for this place and unfortunately it did not live up to the hype (in my opinion).
I had a shrimp taco special as well as a chicken taco. They got my order wrong and gave me 1 shrimp and 1 sweet potato. That was fine, but the chicken taco they replaced it with had clearly been rushed and the tortilla was soggy. The shrimp taco was delicious though and definitely made up for the chicken taco. What frustrated me was the price of the guacamole. 5.50, which is expensive, but understandable because avocados are expensive, but the chips were also 5$, so 10.50 for some chips and guac! And it was only listed as 5.50 on the menu. I was clearly wrong to assume that the chips were included, maybe would just be good to clarify.
Service was good everyone was very nice, though the workers seemed very stressed. The vibe inside was ok- cute aesthetic but just very chaotic.
Overall, nothing was bad, but nothing was amazing.

This is not a fancy place and it’s not in a fancy part of town but get past that and you’ll enjoy great drinks and excellent tacos. And yes, you CAN have excellent tacos in Burlington Vermont. We arrived ahead of their opening at 5:00 pm and were one of the first tables in. When I left at 6:30, the queue was down the block and in the rain. Yes, these tacos are that excellent.

I went with a variety – one chicken, one asada and one carnitas. With it, a local beer that was served cold and went well. Served street taco style – double tortillas and topped with cilantro and onions, the carnitas was good and the chicken was good but the carne asada was fabulous. The beef was tender and flavorful and there was plenty of it.

Friendly service and an industrial feel with tables and chairs that don’t match. And that’s okay because it’s all about the food at Taco Gordo.

Delicious tacos, fast and friendly service, solid atmosphere. Got a couple of pork tacos, including Al Pastor, and both were delightful! We were in a hurry and they were mindful of that, getting us our food quickly and making sure we were right on time.

Super friendly and fast service. Great vibes. And I’m from Texas so I’m pretty skeptical of Mexican food in the north… but these guys know what they are doing.
