After living here six months, and hearing multiple rave reviews, we stopped at Mykenos. And holy cow, this is GREAT. The family who owns is from Palestine and they are very enthusiastic and helpful and friendly. They do take out orders — order over the phone because there’s a charge for using online. The gyro meat was very tender and not overcooked, some of the best we’ve ever had. The gyros were STUFFED and easily could be two meals or split between two people. The tzatziki sauce was really good. The fries were crispy even after being in the take home box. The jalapeño poppers were poppin’, some of the best I’ve head with tons of cream cheese, thick jalapeños, and crunchy breading. The baba ghanoush was to die for and paired perfectly with the falafel on the falafel sandwich. The melt, which was like a Phili cheesesteak on a pita, was flavorful. The Greek salad was good, but a warning: it’s spicy and has red pepper flakes in it. I liked it but it was too much for others at my meal. Overall, spectacular and will 10/10 be going back. Also, no changing table in the men’s bathroom, so watch out for that.

Just leaving mykenos now after a 5 star visit! My fiance and i stopped in and he ordered a gyro and greek fries and i just got some baclava. the lady at the counter greeted us with the biggest smile and made us feel so welcomed throughout the entire visit. before handing us our to go bag, she opened up our container to make sure that everything was right before she sent us on our way and said goodbye with another smile. this was the best customer service experience that i have ever had in wausau. we will be back and recommending that our friends stop as well! thanks for being amazing!

Can I give 10 stars for the food?? First time there and can’t wait to go back. We ordered the chicken gyro sandwich and the lamb kabob plate. Friendly people with easy access for those with walkers or wheel chairs and clean bathroom.

From the outside, the front isnt eye catching but just simple. The interior atmosphere is about the same. However, when u see the smile from Ahaa, or her other family the atmosphere reminds me of sitting at a long-time friend’s table. Ahaa was very kind and welcoming. All questions I asked were met with sincere smiles and conversation.
I ordered the original gyro with Greek salad as my side. Omg it was all heavely! Ahaa told me they make everything in house. I also got 3 pieces of baklava to go. Overall, I’d give the food a 9/10.
Thanks so much for sharing the table with me, Ahaa! -Ona

Portions are large, food is delicious, and there are lots of options even for my picky kid. I’ve ordered online several times recently and included a request to pack one of the food items separately. They haven’t missed it yet which honestly is thrilling since most restaurants do.

Food is amazing! My favorite is the lamb kabobs!! The meat is cooked to perfection and the grilled tomatoes and onions are an excellent addition. The salad is a good size. Other options are fries or rice which are tasty too. Baklava is soooo good! The family is friendly and helpful. Always a pleasure to visit and eat here.

Normally I have the gyros which is usually just fine. During a recent visit my wife had a sampler plate that included hummus. It was TERRIBLE. One of the staffers asked how our meals were and I told her my wife said it was the worst hummus she’s ever tasted. The girl never asked what was wrong with it (it tasted like just ground chickpeas and lemon juice). No; “I’m sorry, what can we do about it,” etc. Her feigned concern was not appreciated. Customers expect and deserve better especially with the escalating prices.

We slept on this restaurant for too long. Didn’t know what to expect. It never looked busy but we decided to give it a try recently and were super impressed. The gyro sandwich was packed full of meat! I honestly could have ordered a second pita and made another with all of it! Really good flavors and my hubby liked the mixed grill and salad. Rice was a little bland but we weren’t there for the rice. Ordered baklava to go and ate it for breakfast the next day.

This place is a great little find! Happened upon it by chance, but I’m glad I did. The Gyro meat was tender, and the homemade Tzatziki sauce has a great flavor that doesn’t overpower the rest of the gyro. The baklava has a really good flaky Philo dough, and the filling is nutty and not too sweet. Highly recommend this place. I’m looking to try the baba ghanoush next time I’m in town.
