Strawberry Hill bakes a fantastic loaf of Povitca deliciousness! It is so good! It’s richness creates a moment of “eating” heaven. A thin slice warmed and buttered is divine dessert. I bought the walnut and the walnut with cranberries. Next time the apple and cranberry is on my list.

Really really horrible this round! I have bought the English walnut in the past even took on vacation, left at room temp for a week and it was wonderful. I ordered Goldbelly a 2 pack and it is mushy, soured and flaking like it’s stale. It’s actually wet in places. Gross. Hesitant to repurchase now ever again.

Extremely disappointed with their cream cheese povitica this year from the new location. A picture is worth a thousand words.

I always stop here when I visit from out of town. The employees are knowledgeable and very friendly. They make traditional Croatian nut bread. They also make other flavors of the bread, including some with cream cheese. They make a delicious coffee cake. There are free samples available. You can watch them make the breads through large windows. Bread can be shipped anywhere. You’ll have to try the bread to appreciate great ingredients and delicious taste!

Another Kansas City icon who has been producing the finest sweet breads year round for over 30 years. The fact that it is shipped the world over is the best endorsement for this top end quality gourmet treat. If you have purchased your Povitica at your local grocery store and not had the pleasure of visiting the Strawberry Hill bakery showroom you are not getting the full flavor the experience can offer. Super fresh and friendly staff adds the fifth star! The samples are generous and the variety great. I love the poppy seed and today my wife brought home the apple cranberry crunch , yum. I am certain you can’t find them at the grocery store. Easy to find with plenty of parking and kid friendly.

This little gem is tucked away on a side road along I-35. But after a Google search, I found it and was blown away I hadn’t been here already. There is a cute room of delicious samples with a full glass wall view into a vast bakery kitchen where the magic happens. The English Walnut is the solid go-to starter, and they have plenty of other delicious options to explore from there. (I also chose the Strawberry Cream Cheese) Both are delicious, but you simply cannot go wrong with the English Walnut. Dense. Tasty. RICH. Do yourself a favor and pick up a loaf of this heaven.

I am a 25 year client. One plus for the bakery has been consistency in the breads. This year was different. The recipe must have changes. I have trouble figuring out why but I want to say less nuts and sweeter in the filling, and not dense when cutting.

A Holiday Treat
You know the old saying, “You never know what you miss…” and so forth. Well in terms of holiday treats, at least for me, it’s true. Being away from home, I’m missing some of my favorites that are not offered here in South Carolina.
I purchased a loaf of Strawberry Hill’s famous “po-va-Teet-sa” bread and allowed my co-workers to sample it. They agreed that it was delicious. During my brief visit back to my hometown, I went to the bakery and had a chance to sample the coffee cakes and other breads in different flavors. Hands down the Cinnamon Cream Cheese Coffee Cake won over my taste buds. I feel the need to order another to get me through the holidays.
Overall: Don’t let the season escape you without giving this special bread a try.
