Can’t beat this place. The bacon is great. Service is great. Has counter/stool seating which is awesome. Been hitting up every couple of weeks for past 6 months. Coffee never gets cold. They are on point. I just heard that they do spaghetti & meatballs for lunch. All homemade. I’ll be slopping that down today. I’ll review here because IF the sauce & meatballs are on point, I’ll be the happiest man in Merrimack! Although Tomahawk has a very good homemade meatball & a really nice meatball sandwich, but I’m so curious about DW. We’ll see. Chick parm in the near future too.

Update: Had the American Chop Suey for lunch today. Huge portion with garlic bread. Probably the best that I ever had. All ingredients super fresh. Having the other half for dinner tonight. Fella next to me had a hot open turkey with mash, veg, gravy. That looked so good that I’m absolutely grabbing for lunch tomorrow. No spaghetti & meatballs yet, but soon. This joint just keeps on giving! What a great crew working there too.

Dropped in on a Wednesday morning for breakfast. I was greeted with a smile and seated right away. I had the Meat Lovers Omelette with hash browns and rye toast. It was delicious.

We went in on Thursday 8/7 for lunch and got there around 1:00 PM and there were only a few tables. Waitress was fine but we were disappointed with the food. I ordered the Reuben and the waitress tells me they ran out of sauerkraut. My wife asked what the soup was and the waitress says they are out of soup. Worked in and owned restaurants and I never heard of “ran out of sauerkraut” ever, and never “ran out of soup” at 1:00 PM. I ordered the “Reuben” with onions and peppers in place of the sauerkraut. The corned beef was thick cut, very chewy and tough. If made in house it was not cooked long enough and not sliced properly. My wife ordered the tuna sandwich with onion rings. Tuna was good but I was expecting homemade onion rings (I should have asked first) and got what we believe were frozen onion rings. Very doughy and not worth an extra $2.79. Try making your own onion rings-it takes no time and is cheaper than buying them frozen. Last time we were there was a few years ago and we did have a good experience, but we were disappointed this time.

A Classic Diner Experience.
The D.W. diner on Daniel Webster highway in Merrimack, is a classic New England diner experience. They serve up quality comfort diner food and do it with a friendly smile. I have visited many times and have tried their pancakes, waffles, French toast, and breakfast sandwiches. It’s all good. My favorites are always the eggs with a side of bacon. Pick your favorite: an omelet, sunnyside, over easy, scrambled, or eggs Benedict. I really like the hash browns, they are fine shredded and done on the grill, cooked until they are nice and crispy.

They serve a nice selection of lunch items, but for me breakfast is where they really shine. The diner has a strong positive local reputation and as a result, it can be quite popular on weekend mornings during the breakfast rush. Expect at those times to have to wait a little while for a table. Better to come a little bit early or a little bit later. Weekdays at peak times are also popular but not as much as the weekends.

If you are looking for something fancy, modern or high class, this place will not impress. It’s a down home, no frills atmosphere. However. if you want a solid New England style breakfast, or brunch with a cup of fresh hot coffee you can’t go wrong.

There is ample free parking around the diner. There are also handicapped parking spaces available. The entrance is handicapped accessible but the doors are not automatic. The entrance is a little tight on space but after that they’re more than happy to accommodate you as needed.

Under new management and you can tell there is a new atmosphere and vibrance in this restaurant. Ate there for breakfast and the staff were friendly, the food delicious and portions satisfying. New owner was in the house and meeting all the patrons. Wonderful experience! The picture says it all. LOL
