This place was such a pleasant surprise, everything was perfect! Starting from the servers and staff, they were all incredibly sweet and kind. They started us with the bread which was so soft on the inside but with the perfect non-chewy crunch on the outside. For tapas, we ordered the patatas bravas plus the chipirones plancha from and OMG they were phenomenal!!! The sauce in the chipirones is so exquisite that I had to dip the bread in it and not leave a drop behind. The patatas bravas are not spicy at all and both sauces are great combined. For the entree we got a special squid ink seafood paella for two people which honestly can serve up to four if you also get two tapas. This paella had the perfect amount of salt and flavor. It had enough seafood and it was also delicious. Wish I wasn’t as full at the end because I would have gotten the churros. I can’t wait to come back and try different dishes and hopefully don’t end up too full to try the churros :p

A Hidden Gem for Seafood & Paella Lovers!
We had an amazing experience at Basque Tapas Bar Restaurant with the family. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the food—truly unforgettable.

We started with the seafood in green sauce, the seabass casserole, and the shrimp—all incredibly fresh and full of flavor. But the highlight for us was the octopus—so tender and delicious, easily one of the best we’ve ever had.

They also serve a variety of paellas, including a meat paella— with chorizo, filet mignon, and other meats.

Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared, and the service warm, professional and well paced. Can’t wait to come back!

1000/10 recommend. We come as often as we possibly can! The garlic shrimp and filet mignon tips are fantastic!! Sangria is delicious and perfectly balanced (I normally don’t drink sangria because it’s too sweet). The bread is also very clearly homemade. Perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Basque is consistently GREAT each time!!! Bravo!!!!

PS- my phone clearly ate last with this photo lol

Absolutely phenomenal place to eat. The Garlic shrimp appetizer and empanadas were great and the paella for 4 is out of this world. Will absolutely return. Place never disappoints. Six or seventh time here.

Was in area doing a bike fit. Decided to come here for tapas & good wine. Not disappointed at all, food was marvelous.

Able to park bikes in rear patio. Tapas was a bit pricey but worth the quality. Wine was okay for $80 a bottle.

Definitely worth a return trip to try the other dishes on menu. Service was good & nice ambiance overall. Busy crowd for Tuesday dinner

Best in area to my knowledge

Delicious food and excellent service. The paella was absolutely top-notch—full of flavor and cooked to perfection. Initially, our table felt a bit cramped as the two-top tables were placed too close together, which made us uncomfortable. Thankfully, the staff was very attentive and quickly accommodated us by moving us to a larger table. Overall, a great dining experience thanks to the wonderful food and thoughtful service.

Came here on Saturday during lunchtime. The place got packed, but the service was outstanding and fast. Cocktails were nice and strong.
Food… Food was excellent, both tapas and main course. So fresh, so flavorful, just mouthwatering.
Definitely will come back to try other items from the menu.

We had a really fantastic first meal here on Sunday. We were a group of four (3 adults, one child) and arrived shortly after the 1 PM opening and many tables were already taken, and the food aromas were incredible-a good sign! The interior is intimate but not cramped, with space in Piermont being at a premium. Overall, we had a great experience with food and service and would return. The restaurant itself is not so fancy that you absolutely must dress up, and I also consider it child friendly for well behaved children, considering we had a six year old with us.

Food ordered:

* Albondigas picante (spicy meatballs)-These were on point with flavor and spice. The meatballs and the sauce were delicious and great for dipping bread into.
* Pulpo a la plancha (my personal choice since I love octopus)-I don’t know what’s in Galician seasoning, but this dish was outstanding. The octopus was incredibly tender and I don’t think I’ve ever had octopus cooked that well. It was a flavorful and fun dish.
* Vieiras rellenas (stuffed scallop shells)-These were good but let’s not kid ourselves, the thick slice of Applewood bacon was the star. The filling was good but a bit too much breadcrumb flavor for my personal taste. I felt it overpowered the seafood.
* Gambas al ajillo (shrimp in garlic sauce)-This was probably my favorite dish, tied with the octopus. The shrimp was very well seasoned and flavorful and cooked well.
* Croquetas del dia (croquettes of the day)-These were fine, I don’t recall the specific variety offered that day but they were fried and crispy on the outside, and creamy on the inside. I thought they could have used a bit more seasoning but the sauce on the side (mayo-based, aioli perhaps?) went well with them.
* Marisco paella for two (seafood paella)- The portion is incredibly generous for 2, and considering all the other dishes the 4 of us had previously, we managed to get through maybe a third of the skillet. I’m not the biggest fan of the texture/appearance of mussels and clams, which this dish is generous with, so this wasn’t my choice, but I enjoyed the other seafood and the rice itself was flavorful. However, I was looking for the crispy bottom and though some of the rice was a bit toothsome, I missed the crispiness that paella is famous for. There were several scallops and shrimp and a few scant pieces of squid that were devoured.

We were completely stuffed so of course, had to order dessert. I chose the churros con chocolate, which were thinner and more crispy and less chewy than any churros I’ve had previously. They were delicious and I really enjoyed the texture and the sauce that came with them. My MIL chose the apple galette, which similarly was well made, flavorful, and incredibly delicious. I had a glass of rose sangria that was fine. I usually drink and serve sangria cold and there were a few ice cubes but the drink was room temperature. I sometimes make sangria at home and it was no better than any that I’ve made, minus a point because it was warm. I had a pineapple mimosa after that, which was good.

Overall, my personal favorite dishes were the octopus; shrimp; meatballs; and the churros. The food came out quickly, the service was attentive, refills were offered, clean plates were given for the paella, and overall, we had a great meal and experience.
