$21.00 for this small amount of chicken is ridiculous pricing is wrong on web site as well. Did not even get a drink and portion’s are small for this pricing. Was told 15 to 20 mins before it would be ready show up 9 mins later to my food waiting and when I eat it, it’s cold and soggy. I will not be returning. Restaurant ask looked very dark and dirty when I walked in. Guy at front counter claim to be manager and was very rude also. Called to speak with manager in regard to food and he told me if I ate it there it would be crispy lol never Heard of this bull crap before, I work right next door lol. Over sauced and so cold it’s not funny. I will be telling all my customers to avoid this restaurant also and I have a massive customer base in the area. This is truly sad and way over priced. Hair in my food also

We love Yen Ching!!!
When we finally discovered it, we were duly impressed. Now, it is our favorite Chinese restaurant in Mesa, that’s not a buffet. To me it is the most authentic Chinese food outside of mainland China.
I’m not sure if he is the manager or the owner, but David runs the place like a well oiled machine and he is friendly, courteous, and very efficient. He has a great smile on his face at all times, and makes his customers feel comfortable.

Yen Ching Mandarin Restaurant is a well-known hole in the wall Asian restaurant that has been around in Mesa, Arizona for almost 30 years, and this is our first time enjoying it! After walking past the waiting area, I did not expect to see and feel a elegant and relaxing atmosphere. We ordered shrimp and snow peas, Yen Ching signature Mongolian beef, what’s a side of Crab puffs and sweet and sour soup. Every item ordered was to imperfection, and so was our service. I can’t wait to eat at this establishment again. So glad we made it in before they close!

It really saddens me to write this review. We live nearby and have been coming to this restaurant for about 15 years. Last night we brought my son and his girlfriend. My son ordered the General Tso’s chicken and it was different from what we had ever seen. The sauce was very thick and the taste just was not appealing. We asked the waiter (the white haired guy) if we could get something else and he insisted the food was fine how they made it. I didn’t argue, left a smaller tip, and we agreed never to come back. Too many other options to go to. Sorry…JH

This was probably some of the worst chinese food I’ve had. I ordered the sweet and sour pork and the broccoli beef. The pork was so hard to chew, the broccoli and beef tasted almost like a chemical. The egg fried rice had no flavor. The service was almost non existent. I didn’t even take my left overs home because I knew I’d never touch it again.

The waitress was terrible! She was rude and acted as if we were a bother to wait on. When we requested lemon slices and a to go box, she seemed very irritated. Just for customer information, you must order a minimum of $7.00 and there is a small charge for to-go containers.
This was during lunch on Friday, October 3, 2026.

I was stoked and the food smelled great, only problem is my main entree had fruit flies in it. I didn’t really notice until one crawled out onto my fork, and then as I went through my plate I realized there were more dead ones mixed in. Grossed out. I won’t be back.

Haven’t been there in 20 years. It was delicious! The food was amazing, and so was the service. The restaurant is very nice and clean with a beautiful fish tank in the middle. Great parking too.

The food has changed over the years and was not so good this time. The egg roll and cup of soup was good but 4 out of five entrees not so good the one entree that tasted good was sweet and sour chicken we all agreed that it tasted good. The server was nice and took 3 of 4 seafood dishes back to the kitchen, he came back out and said the cook tasted them and found all very good. The 3 dishes sent back stayed on our check and the 3 ordered sweet and sour chicken and it arrived and was super good. The one that eat half of his seafood dishes and took the other half home
became violently ill about six hours later and because of his age, we ended up taking him to the emergency room. He receives several bags of IV with medication to help him stop the vomiting. The emergency room physician believed it was food poisoning and contacted the health department. The whole experience surprised me since we’ve been eating at this restaurant 3 to 4 times a month for about 16 years now and have enjoyed taking friends and family there to enjoy the food. As a courtesy I tried to reach the owner the next day and the gentleman that I spoke with who identified himself as the owner said it was the same seafood he served all day long for the past two days and nobody else was sick so It must be our friend had the flu. I tried to Explained to him that was not the case, but he insisted it was. He then told me Don’t ever come back here again. Newsflash we would not be going back there again “ever” … Something definitely has changed in the past few years and the quality of food And the service has done nothing but gone downhill. I suspect they won’t be open much longer with this kind of food quality and POOR treatment. When I paid the check the 3 bad seafood dishes stayed on our check so I paid for 8 dishes for 5 people and was told
The owner said we had to pay for them. Good luck Yen Chen you will not get any Moore money from us or our friends.
