I heard about this restaurant from a friend, but unfortunately, I was very disappointed.

First of all, let me clarify that the reason I’m writing this review is to let the restaurant owner know that running a restaurant means you must ensure the food served is safe and properly cooked. At the very least, the dishes brought to the table should be fully cooked.

There were just two of us dining, and the server seemed unhappy that we ordered only a few items. It was our first time here, so of course, we wanted to try a few things first and wait for the dim sum carts to come around before ordering more. In the end, after being pressured several times by the server, we ended up ordering five or six kinds of dim sum.

One of them was the pineapple bun—the dough inside was still raw, but I didn’t say anything.

Then came the chive and shrimp dumplings—the vegetables were hot, but the shrimp was cold, clearly undercooked. I was honestly speechless.

I really wonder—was it just bad luck with the chef today? Or is this a common issue? How can things be this unprofessional?

I hope the owner can provide an explanation. Thank you.

05.01.24 11:30am On the way to South Lake Tahoe we stopped by for lunch at this awesome restaurant find! It’s definitely more of a Dim Sum place for lunch as the HUGE restaurant’s packed (all Chinese) patrons were mostly eating/choosing dim sum from the ladies serving them in the rolling carts.

We had 2x Mongolian Beef dishes + Beef with String Beans plus we requested this dish to be made with the addition of black bean sauce (mom’s fave) and which they made perfectly! We also ordered the Seafood & Chive Dim Sum in Egg Wrapper ($7.19=4ct=large, super filled w.plump shrimp=super delicious!) & beef tendon in broth (this was good but we probably wouldn’t order it again due to wanting to eat all of their tastier dishes).

Hot Tea was fresh and delicious too, came out in a clean large silver pot!

All food was exceptionally delicious, clean, fresh, hot, very low oil, not salty, in fact perfectly salted, just a perfect restaurant, though they were PACKED on a Wednesday and so service could use some help though they were quite friendly.

Mom asked how long the restaurant has been here and the gentleman in front said 11 years. Mom wishes this restaurant was in San Jose :(. We will be back!!!

05.03.24 Dined here again, ordered same items plus 2x orders of the seafood & chive dim sum & 2x orders of the shrimp & chives dim sum = dim sum is exceptional! We love the food here!

This restaurant offers chef’s special price from Monday to Friday, and when we came here for lobster special price on Thursday, they said they did not provide special price on holiday, which is not mentioned in their policy. If this restaurant cannot afford to offer the special price, then do not provide this special price, ok? I feel very angry and won’t come to this restaurant again!

Even here twice, second time with a large group of 13. We ordered almost everything on the dim sum menu and also Peking duck an fu jian fried rice (the best kind of fried rice, it comes with a gravy, scallops chicken, mushrooms etc). Everything was actually very good. We came early to make sure everything was fresh. The consensus was asian pearl is great and we would all love to return. The Peking duck did not require ordering ahead and was about 41 or 42 dollars for the entire duck. Good Price the quality of the duck was ok, a lot of the skin was crispy and the meat was tender enough, 42 dollars I’d say it was a good deal and worth it. I would not specify this place as highly skilled at Peking duck but I do recommended ordering it because it’s delicious and in expensive. I’d paid much more for terrible Peking duck and this was decent and good price, very reasonable. I remand asian pearl for dim sum and also dinner menu. I cannot wait to return. Come early for dim sum or just order dinner menu if you’re late.

Came here on a Wednesday night. I hadn’t been here in like 10 years. Prices are pretty decent considering serving sizes (which are pretty decent). Apparently they have really good roasted squab here, which my grandparents like, but I personally didn’t try it. The roast duck was good. Green beans with xo sauce and roast pork, chow mein had good wok hay. Overall was pleasantly surprised. It’s a little run down. And it was like 79° in there. Service is good though. They even offered to switch out plates on a normal meal. No soup or dessert included if ordering for the normal menu.

We came here for dinner, placed dinner order at 5:04pm. For two dish.
5:41pm food still not out yet, we asked the waiter to see what’s going on? They checked with the kitchen and came back told us that they will cook the food now. Instead of the manager admitting that they must have forgotten to place our order, she asked if we want to proceed with the cooking or cancel?? Bad management!! We will not be coming back here!

This place serve traditional Cantonese dishes. Overall the dishes are overly seasoned with excess MSG.
Otherwise all dishes are pretty good.
Dining area is spacious and comfortable. Parking is very easy.

I’ve been here several times already, and I like their dimsum buffet lunch and regular menu at dinner both. This place is huge, good for birthday or get together party. I wish I could name all the dimsums, but can’t We always get Shui mai, Scallop dumplings, Har gow tho. For dinner, Pecking duck was okay, and their fried rice was good!

Asian Pearl Restaurant is one of the biggest Chinese restaurants in the Sacramento area. I am sure most of the Chinese and Vietnamese will have their meals here at least a few times, either dim sum brunch, dinner, or attend banquet parties.

I have attended banquet dinners at Asian Pearl a few times. It was pretty good compared to other places in Sacramento. The dinners are excellent too. However, dim sum is getting worse like most Chinese restaurants in the Sacramento area. That is a bummer. I love dim sum brunch on the weekends!

The service at Asian Pearl is still outstanding! The waitpersons are very attentive. They’ll pick up the empty plates and refill the tea and water. Come back to check if you want anything else at a regular time.

The dining room is a little dated, but it is very clean and comfortable. The parking lot is jam packed on the weekend morning to about 1-2 pm. Otherwise, there is no problem with parking.

I had tea lunch with a friend at the Asian Pearl. It is 11am – 230pm. Stockton blvd. near 65th Street.

We were not asked what tea we wanted. We were served jasmine. It was fine, although there is usually a choice: black, green, mum, jasmine, etc.

The dim sum was good. We ordered a variety and ended with egg custards for dessert. I took photos for your perusal.

Tea lunch is usually for socializing or business, with slow eating and lots of talking! Lunch at the Asian Pearl was authentic, tasty, and reasonably priced.$$

My friend was not Asian, and I would have liked to try the chicken feet(brown),
seaweed, jellyfish, or pork belly. It sounds exotic. Most people would like the neutral flavor and the different textures. However, he was able to try some different textured tofu skin, and a variety of different flavors. The egg custards were light flakey and to die for (a great dessert)! Mango pudding or red bean sticky balls could also be a good choices. We did not try those desserts today .

The entry is flat for wheelchair or baby carriage access. There is plenty of free parking.
The restaurant can accommodate lots of people!

This restaurant was unfairly given a 3 1/2 star rating on Yelp. It is serving authentic chinese food (not americanized) in Sacramento’s little Saigon area. Unfortunately, it is a drive from the north area. Yu Huang in Natomas is probably a bit closer, for those in north Sacramento.

*Check out the photos. We had left overs to take home.
