i love this place. menu is good, the vibes are nostalgic & cozy.

the food is somewhere between home cooked & restaurant food. the prices are fair/appropriate for some items, but too high for others. but they have a few signature dishes & beverages, & those are beloved for a reason.

its not perfect, but i love this place for what it is. & when i walk in and smell the 90s cigarette soaked carpet, it puts a smile on my face.

On my first work trip to Seattle I’d just wander around the neighborhoods after work. I was checking out Seattle’s Chinatown, when I stepped into a weird mall and found this Japanese sports bar upstairs.

A little dark, a little dingy, the bartender wasn’t that friendly (well, he did take shots with a regular at the bar, so he was selectively friendly, but he did keep me well served), and maybe because I have attachment issues I instantly loved it! I hate being pandered to. Treat me like the object I am!

So people order food here, but I have not. I’ve basically gone to this bar for alcohol and to socialize. First time here I sat at the bar with a guy from Indiana, a girl from Africa, and a dude from Japan, while we chatted about restaurant work and and Seattle social tendencies.

This place had a dingy charm about it that appealed to something within me, so I like to visit every time I can. Don’t bring people who enjoy the common things of life. This is a good bar to save for people who understand joy.

This is what you call a hidden gem! IFYKY. Truly it has one of my favorite Japanese bar food, but the best thing here which was the most surprising is the Japanese spaghetti. Just think homemade from Mom right straight from her kitchen. I’ve been going here for the last couple years and it never misses. I absolutely adore this place. And the service is so lovely! Everyone here is just exceptionally sweet and kind. Its a spot you should bring a friend and share an app + spaghetti. Don’t hate on it unless you tried it! The Japanese Kewpie mayo on spaghetti is insanely good.

Home style Japanese diner, conveniently located near the International District/Chinatown station, which is about 5-10 minutes away. We came to this place due to the high reviews but was quite disappointed with our experience. The good: friendly staff, attentive service, food was served quickly. The bad: pricy, below average food quality, outdated decor. The Gyutan ($19, 8 PCs) was the worst I have ever had. They were salty, overcooked, and way too thick, which made them like rubber and extremely hard to chew. The Omurice ($18) was overpowered by ketchup, as that’s the only thing I could taste and for $18 dollar I would expect the portion to be larger. Lastly, the spicy karage curry has a weird sour taste to it. The chicken was pretty spicy, but also pretty sour probably due to overdose of lemon/lime juice during marinating. Overall, we left disappointed and probably won’t come back again.

We went for lunch and the menu is large; the restaurant offers many options. The atmosphere is not extraordinary, but it is clean and the staff provide good service

A hidden restaurant on the 2nd floor with excellent service and decent food. When we got it on a Friday evening it was relatively empty.

I ordered the “Yakibuta Chahan” and “Spicy Cheese Fries.” The chahan had a light flavor and you could taste mostly chicken + onion. The spicy cheese fries tasted like fries and cheese with a mild spice.

What stood out to me was the service. They went out of their way to chitchat and regularly checked-in on us during the meals. It felt really welcoming.

Food is very delicious, a little pricey considering you make most of it in like 10 mins with ingredients from Uwajimaya across the street. But if you don’t feel like doing that this is so worth it! The melon soda is delicious and picture worthy, the curry is exactly what you want, the dipping udon as well. Nothing is too crazy or too bland it is perfect Japanese diner food. The service is very kind we wanted to change our order and they were very understanding. They also brought lots of pickles upon asking for extra. My only quips:
Super not accessible, only accessible by stairs sadly.
Eggs, the egg in the egg doria was super raw and I completely understand that Japanese people love raw egg but that is because Japanese eggs are much better quality than most American eggs, and I could tell this egg was not to this quality.

A Seattle institution! Such a great spot for late-night dinner as well as a shot or two. I cannot count how many times friends and I have returned here as I’m a regular (thank you for the green tea shots), and the food is truly comfort food.

Their garlic mayo spaghetti is my frequent go-to, as well as their chicken katsu curry, hamburger steak and bento boxes (personally always get mine with chicken katsu and mackerel — so delectable!). They’re all so consistently delicious.

And of course, you can’t write a review for FSG without mentioning Misaki. Thank you so much, friend! Your bubbly personality and sweetness are so welcoming & needed. There’s nothing like that exemplary person at a restaurant that makes you feel special and takes care of you always.

Came here because we noticed this place has been here for almost 30 years. Had perfect portion and fast friend service.
Here’s what we ordered

1. Beef curry with spicy chicken
It had more than enough flavorful sauce and was very filling.

2. Zaru soba with tempura
Balanced sauce with perfect noodles.

3. Bacon and mushroom doria (gratin over rice)
Cheese goodness. Period.

4. Beef tongue.
Delicious. if you like brisket at kbbq you’ll enjoy this.

5.takoyaki
Very standard takoyaki can’t go wrong.

6.tonpeiyaki (okonomiyaki-ish with squid)
Like and omelet with squid, couldn’t eat this but my friends said it was very flavorful.

There are also specials from time to time. Would recommend.

I would give it 4 stars if you live in the area or can get here via mass transit. 3 stars if you drive here and add in the cost of parking. I got the bento box with the Fort St. George Style Hamburger Steak w/ Meat Sauce (like a flat meatball) and Japanese Style Fried Chicken. Everything was good. Service was ok.
