This place is a hidden gem! From the owner, to the service and of the food.. everything is excellent.
They catered to my level of heat tolerance and i so appreciated that. The flavors were robust but not overpowering. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to try Indian food. Thank you for a delicious meal. See you soon.

Hidden gem / hole in the wall kind of place! I had a craving for comfort food like rasam, pongal and dosa for my birthday, and stumbled upon Woodlands Cafe in my search. We came hungry and left very full after trying so many of the dishes. We particularly enjoyed the woodlands dosa, podi masala dosa, rava dosa, tamarind rice, and bisi bele bath. The sambar, rasam and chutneys were all delicious. We will definitely be returning soon.

A little gem in the Garfield town for South Indian delicacies. The food is reasonably priced with great service. The entire restaurant is vegetarian only so they were able to easily accommodate jain food. We tried chai, mirchi bhajji, paneer makhani, rawa dosa. Other friends said their mysore masala and spring dosa was also good.

One of my favourite restaurants in the area. Their rasam is to die for and in the winter specifically it hits the right spots. Their pani puri also tastes pretty good and needless to say their sambhar chutney is top notch. Definitely recommend.

We found Woodlands Cafe by accident on a road trip, and we are so glad we did! Now every time we are in the area, we make a point to stop and eat there. They are welcoming and the atmosphere is very relaxed; great for any generation. And the food is absolutely fantastic. I could drink the rasam soup all day, and the pani poori and Woodlands dosai have the perfect combination of flavors. The only thing I would change is having them closer to where we live.

Came for late lunch. Vick had idli, vada, pongal. Achu had thali. Everything was fresh and tasted delicious. Thali tasted good but wish it had more veggies. They gave chana masala as one of the two veggies. Wish they had given something else. Also wish they had actual plates, cups, and silverware instead of everything disposable. Service was very good. Would recommend for Indian vegetarian food lovers.

Woodlands cafe in Garfield, New Jersey, is a hidden gem for lovers of authentic South Indian cuisine! Their dosas are simply divine—perfectly crisp on the outside and filled with flavorful goodness. The accompanying sambhar is rich and aromatic, with the perfect blend of spices that warms your soul with every bite. The idlis are soft, fluffy, and just melt in your mouth, complemented beautifully by their delicious chutneys.
On my last visit, I couldn’t resist trying their chole bhature, and it was nothing short of perfection. The bhature were light, airy, and golden, while the chole had a bold, hearty flavor that truly hit the mark. It was a dish to remember and definitely one worth returning for.
The ambiance of the cafe is cozy, and the staff is incredibly warm and attentive, making the entire dining experience even more enjoyable. Whether you’re in the mood for traditional South Indian staples or craving North Indian delights like chole bhature, woodland cafe delivers with excellence. Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic, flavorful, and satisfying Indian food in New Jersey!
