All sandwiches, panini, and hoagies are made on Calandra’s freshly baked bread and can be topped with everything from traditional cold cuts to handmade mozzarella, vegetables, homemade sauces and much more. All salads are made fresh to order yet we also have several grab-and-go items if you are looking for a quick midday option. I’ve always been a big fan of the deli department. Been going there for years. Went there not too long ago. Ordered a couple of sandwiches. Minor changes, salami for capicola on one and sweet peppers instead of hot peppers on the other. Although the person taking my order looked at me and appeared to understand it soon became obvious that this person did not speak any English. I watched the sandwiches being made, and they were not what I had ordered. I tried to stop the person so that they could correct it and again, although this person looked at me and appeared to understand, went back to doing exactly what they were doing. It was very frustrating. I walked out and left the sandwiches.
The person taking your order should be able to understand what you are saying.

Absolutely love this restaurant and bakery but the deli section needs some tlc. It’s disappointing because the food isn’t the issue. It’s the staff. My last visit I asked for a turkey sandwich with lettuce, banana peppers and vinegar. Specified no onions because I am allergic. They asked me at least 5 times to repeat, calling me back over to counter. Sandwich comes and it’s turkey onions, jalapeno peppers. Bring it back and no apology. Today, they took my order, disappeared for 10-20 minutes, came back and asked what I wanted. Please figure this out and hire new staff/ train the staff you have.

Ordered a ham,salami,&provolone . Watched as clerk retrieved a pre-made sandwich from refrigerated case and proceeded to add lettuce tomatoe onion . I asked for fresh sliced and new bread and was told sorry but can’t do that. And at $18plus for a 12” sub? Go to IL Panino in Fairfield or Sorrento in East Hanover , you’ll thank me.

Had the pleasure of eating at this establishment last night with some friends. Thoroughly enjoyed the almond crusted salmon with mashed potatoes and julienne vegetables. Last evening was also five dollar margaritas, and they had a dj playing some tunes in the bar area.
Before attending my lady’s night event there. I checked out the very expansive cases of pastries at the bakery.
Would highly recommend this place for a special night out. My only gripe was that there weren’t any healthy appetizer options. Unfortunately, I can’t eat anything fried and I don’t eat bread. I wish there had been some grilled options.
