Vida Mariscos is a spot my family has been trying to get me to visit for some time now. The short & sweet, I should have visited sooner!!

The bad:
Service: could have been better. It wasn’t busy, but our server disappear for quite a while. We actually got refills for ourselves, because she was lacking. Even with extra help. Don’t think she was having a good day, just wasn’t happy to be there. Very noticeable.

There were two waitresses that took our orders. Not one wrote a thing down, if you’re going to place an order anything more than 4 expect a mess up. We had one order missing that was never addressed.

Noise Level: The music level inside, might not be for some people. It is rather loud, however you’re still able to hold a conversation.

The good:
Everything else lol. Where to start??

The roasted elote plate as an appetizer is definitely one to try. Its flavors are still making my mouth water writing this. It’s not like your typical corn in a cup, it just hit all the flavor notes every bite.

The Fajitas were on point. Char, tender, flavor, etc. All the sides were full of authentic flavors. Just paired well with everything we ordered.

The food and cooks bring their A game here and looking forward to trying more dishes on my next visit.

Price points are on the higher side. But know it’s well worth it, and you will most likely end up with left overs.

I was informed that in the evenings, happy hour special nights, and weekends. They have live music and typically a larger crowd. So if that’s not your thing, best to visit during the day or during the week.

What are some of your favorites dishes you’ve tried?
How was your experience?

We will definitely be back for more.

Until next time.

The food was great! Everything was perfectly seasoned and cooked just right. We especially loved the octopus. The mango margarita was SUPER fresh. The restaurant itself is large and bright, with tons of natural light coming in through the windows.

Xitali and one other bartender were excellent! Food was great, 1st time here and will definitely come back. Got the kiwi margarita on the rocks and it was delicious. If youre staying at the Wolf lodge which is walking distance to this place, COME.

Our first visit to Vida Maricos was very positive. There are TVs in every direction with every game on. It was a very festive environment with a Mariachi band playing. There were about 5 birthdays being celebrated while we were there.
We had a Super Salad Bowl with Salmon served over white rice, avocado, radish, walnuts, tomato, red onion and cucumber tossed in a sweet ginger miso dressing and we had Blackened Salmon: Salmon filet blackened with Vida Miriscos spice mix. Served with 2 jumbo shrimp, grilled vegetables, rice and black beans.
The pictures on the menu did not truly reflect the quality of the food and the vibrant colors. We look forward to going back.

On my first visit to this restaurant, I was first very impressed with its spacious open area inside and out. My first thought was this was a Mexican restaurant that offered the same menu as others I have visited before. My best guess now is that their menu brings two cultures together based on my first impression of the appetizers they bring you first to your table. I have to admit I was thrown off a little bit by the plate of spicy pickled carrots and warm rolls with butter “instead” of the usual tortilla chips or even crispy plantain chips served with the red, green or sweet tomato salsa that you sometimes get at other Mexican restaurants. To add to my awkward feeling, I had to ask one of the waiters what I was supposed to do with this appetizer? Was I supposed to wait for my main meal to eat it? He replied that most people stuff the carrots in the middle of the bread and eat it this way. What I found out later is that this type of serving is more common in Vietnamese quizine and also served by a few Mexican or Central American restaurants. No disrespect to my own culture, but for me, it will take some getting used to their version of an appetizer. In addition, they serve a pickled jicama slaw or salad with a little shredded carrot and maybe a little shredded lettuce and or coleslaw mixed in and is added to most of their baked or fried fish and shrimp menu options. My bacon wrapped shrimp or shrimp brochette for about $24 a plate comes with 6 large size shrimp and is drizzled with some Chipotle or soy sauce combination that was a bit too salty for my taste. I also ordered two other plates on their menu. I ordered the blackened salmon with rice, black beans, veggies, and baked shrimp for around $27. I then ordered the Pescado empanizado (fried fish) lunch plate for $14 that included a fish taco with the tangy shredded jicama slaw on a corn tortilla with 3 shrimp on the same plate. Both plates were very good, and I “might” order again on my next visit. The happy hour “large” margaritas are very good, much like all margaritas from other restaurants, and it is priced at $9 during happy hour 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. I almost forgot the 3 fish and shrimp empanada combo for $12 was really good, too. As for the atmosphere in the restaurant, they seem to have a small stage area for a small band possibly for performances on Friday evenings “or” weekends, but I’m not sure. I do wish on this occasion they tone down the music on their sound system, though. I prefer a more quiet environment. Since it’s my first visit, I wonder if it’s quieter at different times of the week but will see or ask next time if I return on a different date and time. On this visit I failed to do the math on my food and I ended up spending a little over $106 for me and my guest “not” counting the tip for 4 dishes, a side of guacamole for $12 and a margarita. It’s a bit way too much than I’m used to spending at any restaurant for the portions served.

The food was delicious. The baja fish had a deliciously creamy texture. The blackened salmon was tasteful. The banana bread was average. If you’re seeking a restaurant to celebrate your birthday, I highly recommend it. The service was exceptional.

The food was amazing. Had shrimp empanadas, and ceviche with a michelada. Enjoyed every bit of it. Also the octopus grilled was also delicious. Also when things say spicy, it actually is.

The music played is a variety of Spanish, very entertaining.

Will be coming back.
