This is my third time visiting this location, and I honestly don’t know why I continue to give it another chance. Every single visit, I pay for a double chicken portion and leave with what clearly looks like less than a single portion.

Today’s experience was especially unacceptable. I watched the employee preparing my salad pick her nose, then put on gloves without washing her hands, while still touching the outside of the gloves with her snot-contaminated hand, and then proceed to make my food. I should have demanded a refund and walked out. It was absolutely disgusting.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, another employee — very trashy, dressed unprofessionally in a belly shirt — stared me down in a way that felt intimidating and inappropriate, adding to an already uncomfortable experience.

Maybe I shouldn’t expect more from fast-food employees, but this is Montvale, a well-established and affluent area. Basic hygiene, professionalism, and portion accuracy should not be too much to ask.

Do better, Sweetgreen. This was despicable.

DO NOT EAT HERE!!! DONT THINK TWICE JUST LEAVE!!!

HERE’S WHY!
While actively eating the bowl I orders I noticed a large bug embedded upside down in the spring mix, (while also noticing the browning of the vegetables). The moment I realized what I was seeing, I immediately spit out my food and began violently vomiting, as I had no way of knowing whether I had already consumed part of the insect OR A FULL STINK BUG.

After I finished throwing up, I asked my coworker to take a photo. (I could not bare to look at it). At that point, the bug had CRAWLED out of the greens and onto a napkin that was on top of the food, it is visible in the attached images. Given that this insect was not small and was capable of movement, I have no confidence that it was the only one present in the bowl I ordered. I was so shaken and disgusted that I threw away every food item I had ordered without continuing to inspect them.

This incident demonstrates a serious FAILURE in food SAFETY, QUALITY CONTROL, and kitchen oversight at the Montvale location. Finding a LIVE, sizable INSECT in prepared food is deeply disturbing and completely unacceptable. It has completely destroyed my trust in sweetgeee’s food handling practices and in the employees responsible for maintaining safety standards at this location.

I am still physically ill and extremely upset by this experience. This is the kind of incident that warrants warning other consumers. DO NOT CONSUME!

I will never return to this location and will never recommend Sweetgreen to anyone based on this experience.

Been coming here for a year – the food was very good – good mix of ingredients and tasted great, filling amounts. But in the last few months, there’s a particular server there who is clearly unhappy to be there and it shows in the food she serves. Yesterday, she was the only one there. The three bowls we got were half full, and the ingredients were thrown in like no one cared. Unless this is about the company cutting costs significantly due to inflation, it really needs to do a better hiring job.

We decided to give this place a try. Looks like it will be the last time we go in here. Beautiful restaurant, and the concept is kind of cool. So, I ordered the garlic steak bowl, added a few extra items, one being basil. So we got our food, and I opened the lid to see the most brown old tired looking basil thrown on top of the pile. The pepper slices were anemic and mushy, I can almost overlook that, but not today. The sweet potatoes were mush, as they would be very overcooked, and the red onions were not crunchy, and sort of limp. On a bright note, the rice was good. My wife, seeing that I was not thrilled, refused to say anything about her bowl, so she would have choked it down so there were no more issues. Now, looking into the window where a girl was doing her work, I noticed in the refrigerator, a container of limes, they were more brown than green. I find it very disheartening that when you pay $ 40.00+ for 2 little bowls, with no more than 4 oz of proteins, that the ingredients would be top notch. This was definitely not the case. So I said something to the one girl behind the counter, that there were issues, and this is my forst time here, she seemed very annoyed that I interrupted her duties, and very curtly, said, well do you want a new piece of basil or something. I explained that no, I did not, but that this should never happen in the first place, especially for that much money. She turned in a huff, and walked away, and we left the store. Unreal.

Disappointed in this location. I eat Sweetgreen regularly in NYC and decided to stop by this location near home. Clearly not great quality control on their ingredients. The avocado that was on my salad looks rotten from both sides (see photos).

Love the new system. Way faster than other stores. My food was as delicious as any other sweetgreen I’ve eaten at. Maybe a little better. The picture is half of my salad, I’d already eaten half. Patio is very nice.

The atmosphere was incredible, and the team was both attentive and welcoming. I was personally assisted at the front without even needing to ask, which was a pleasant surprise! This was my first experience at Sweetgreen, and the food was exceptionally fresh and delicious.

I will definitely be coming back!

$25 for a bag of spinach??? I’ve been going next door to Naya for a few weeks and decided to give sweet green a try because the menu online looked so delicious. However, I’m so beyond disappointed. I wouldn’t mind if it was expensive with quality and sizeable steak but there was maybe 5 small pieces in there. I also got extra cucumber and tomatoes because I don’t love salad with too much lettuce/spinach and literally got only spinach. Refer to pic. The most disappointing salad I’ve ever had and to charge $25 is absurd. I feel so ripped off and wish I just stuck to Naya. Won’t make that mistake again. Ugh.

I’m really not one to write reviews, but my experience with the food here was not great. My rice bowl had no rice. I also ordered the sweet potatoes which looked very different online. The ones I got were soft and mushy. It was a really disappointing experience especially with the price of everything.

I genuinely love Sweetgreen, but the service at this location was disappointing. Something as simple as asking for salt (an item every restaurant obviously has) was met with a dismissive look and a curt “we don’t have salt.” It felt less like a policy and more like “I don’t want to get you any salt in the back”.

On top of that, when I asked for my salad to be mixed, the result was clumps of cheese, ingredients piled together, and barely any dressing. For a $20 salad, it shouldn’t feel like you’re fighting through carelessness.

This seems to be a recurring issue across Sweetgreen: great concept, fresh ingredients—but too often undermined by a lack of effort by the people that work there.
