Farsi Cafe is one of the more authentic Persian restaurants in Westwood, offering traditional dishes that are not always easy to find in LA. On this visit, the order was Abgoosht (Dizi), a classic slow-cooked Persian stew that’s both hearty and comforting.

The dish came out beautifully presented in the traditional style. The broth (the first part of Abgoosht) was rich and flavorful, with deep notes of tomato, lamb, and spices. Fresh bread was served alongside, perfect for tearing into pieces and soaking in the broth—a delicious and nostalgic experience for anyone familiar with this dish.

The second part—the mashed ingredients of beef, beans, potato, and tomato—was served separately, accompanied by fresh herbs and torshi (pickled vegetables). The flavors were spot on, with the slow cooking allowing everything to blend into a hearty, satisfying mixture. The portion size was generous, easily filling, and ideal for someone craving a traditional Persian meal.

The restaurant itself has a modern yet relaxed ambiance, with warm lighting and a clean, inviting setup. Service was polite and attentive, with staff checking in to explain the traditional way to enjoy Abgoosht, which was a nice touch.

Overall, Farsi Cafe delivers an authentic taste of Persian home-style cooking. If you’re looking to try something beyond the usual kabobs, Abgoosht is highly recommended—it’s a dish that captures the heart of Persian cuisine and is done very well here.

We visited a restaurant recently, and even though it was packed with a large crowd, the staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, handling everything with grace despite being short-staffed. The food was delicious, the appetizers were fantastic, and at the end, we enjoyed tea accompanied by treats like nuts and rock candy. We also tried their hookah, which was great. The ambiance was beautiful, just like the charming roadside restaurants along Iran’s Chalus road. The atmosphere was warm, the people were friendly, and the place radiated a positive vibe. We absolutely loved it!

Farsi Cafe opened in 2011 on Westwood Blvd, Los Angeles. It is one of our favorite Persian eateries. We just love everything about it. The prices are fair for the great food they serve.

The place is comfortable and not so huge. It is just perfect. It is always clean. I love the interior, it has some cool art and a very welcoming vibe to it.

The service is just perfect. They know the menu so well and can help those who need to learn about Persian food. The staff is kind and they will make sure you are happy. You are never rushed out.

Farsi Cafe Serves authentic Persian cuisine—kebabs, stews, and you can get great away dishes. They have the best rice.

All of their food is great. We love all the lamb and chicken items. Their kebabs are great, no matter what type you get. They have great salads and you must try their traditional bread. And get a stew. It is so comforting.

All of it is great. You will be happy.

This is overall a very decent and nice Persian restaurant. The atmosphere seems clean/pretty. The Gheimeh Stew was very delicious. The portion size was very generous. The Kabob Dishes, however, are not always consistent. They could be dry and lack in that classic restaurant flavor one would expect.

The To-Go-Warm-At-Home options seem nicely packed and convenient, although I have never tried them myself. They look like a good option to take home should we choose to dine at the restaurant next time.

The staff was okay for the most part with the exception of a couple of ladies. It would be a much better and pleasant experience if they smiled more and did not come across as unfriendly. Also, when the guests are done dining, don’t stand on top of their heads when it is time to pay and make a selection for a tip amount. One of the women who was assigned to our table (glasses, short, very bleached hair) made it extremely uncomfortable by not knowing basic etiquette and allowing us to pay for the table in a more calm and comfortable manner. She stood there the whole time and rushed the payment process. Also, when asking a question about the bill, she had a really bad attitude and turned really mean. Did not like that one bit.

All in all, the rest of the dining experience was not too bad and we will return again provided their staff is friendlier and has better etiquette/manners when it is time to pay for the table.

Great place with beautiful Persian vibe and Persian songs. The food was good and big portions, and we loved the remaining part taken home more than dining in the restaurant (TMI). The rice was too dry to my taste, but still, I loved it, and people were nice. There seemed to be a lot of seating available, and the design was very nice. I loved the Farsi decor. I didn’t like the smell, whatever it was, and that’s the only downside to my visit.

Disappointing quality, poor presentation and not authentic.

I ordered online and was immediately let down by the presentation, Koobideh snapped just to fit the tray. It felt careless and even disrespectful to the cuisine. Unfortunately, taste did not deliver either:
• Koobideh was very dry and tasted more like a burger, definitely not authentic
• Tahdig was soggy and kind of bland
• No raw onion included which is standard in Persian cuisine

Very friendly staff who helped us pick what we wanted on the menu. There was also live music playing all the classics on his guitar which was a nice touch. The place seemed a bit old and overdue a makeover however.
The food was pretty good. Things I wouldn’t recommend though are the olives and pickles to start with. They are in some spice/sauce which I really didn’t like which was a shame. For the main course I got the leg of lamb which was delicious and literally fell off the bone which was nice. It came with a side of green rice (cooked in dill). Overall I would say the food is a bit overpriced for what it is, but still worth a visit if you’re in the area looking for Persian/Iranian food.

It was my first time visiting and I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. The host was also very kind and accommodating to our needs. The koobideh was as good when we took it home to have the next day. Mast-o-moosir (yogurt and shallots) was one of the best I’ve ever had. Their “house” yogurt and mint drink was very tasty. also My friend did not like the chicken kabab.
