Upon entry of this place it looks cozy but then you start noticing how dark and cool it is in there.. they’ll ask you to order your food and as you pick it, the pizza looks like it’s probably been sitting there a long time but they’ll just pop it right in the oven and heat it right back up for you. Especially if you get a combo and you get garlic knots and you asked to get ranch they’ll be sure to give you marinara.. also the young 20-year-olds in there. I’m just saying dude you’re a Pizza person; so definitely probably won’t ever eat another Plato’s pizza again…

Hands down the best pizza joint in the area. The slices are huge and affordable, with both traditional and creative flavor palates. The staff is great, and the owner really cares for his crew, his customers, and his community. This is a must stop for visitors to the area, and a must stay for those who call Wausau home.

Pizza is awesome. 3 kids wanted pizza so we stopped. They had to make a pepperoni pizza and said it would be 8 minutes we agreed to wait. Pizza came out and was put on the counter. 15 minutes later still sitting there while we stared at the employees waiting. Gave up and left.

Update: After posting my initial review I connected with the owner/manager. The problems I experienced could best be attributed to a young misguided staff. He thanked me for the information and assured me this wasn’t their business ethos and told me customers can order a pizza right up to closing time. I appreciated his concern and decided to give them a second chance. I visited with my family in Jan ’26 and found the pizza much better than average. The staff is still not going to win any awards but was acceptable. This isn’t the same experience you’re going to have at an Italian restaurant but, they are not pretending to be an Italian restaurant. The place was clean enough and accommodating but not quite cozy. If you are just looking for a quick slice and a drink, you won’t find better. I think the pizza is a great value and probably the best out there for the $. I ordered a large pizza the way we wanted it and it arrived in short order. It was cooked in a real oven vice those conveyor ovens like the “big boys.” I won’t hesitate to go back.

I was told that the cut-off for ordering full pizzas was 1 hour before closing, which was 9 p.m. on the Wednesday night (07/09/25) that we visited. Well, the time was 7:48 p.m. when I tried to place my order. Obviously the young staff on duty had better things to do during their work hours than to serve customers and promote the business. Guess they were getting geared-up for their after work activities. Out the door we went.

Honest communication with your customers it’s key
Ordered my pizza got told 15 min I got there after 20 min pizza wasn’t ready I got told again another 5 min I was sitting there for 10-15 and nothing went for a walk outside for 20 min and finally the pizza was ready and cold when I got home.
I think it’s fair to say that this is my first time having this kind of experience here, I’ve never had an issue before

Huge selection of pizza by the slice or you can order whole custom pizzas to dine in or take out. Really spacious dining area. They have a few tables outside to eat as well. Best pizza around, if you had to compare it to a chain pizza company “Sbarro Pizza” would be simular in major malls but better. They do really good daily speciality pizzas like Philly cheesesteak & cordon blue. Really reasonably price & they do meal deals different days of the week too. Really wish they’d open a location in Rhinelander because all our pizza places literally suck. The only negative is parking can be tricky when they’re busy.

2 slices, 2 fountain drinks, garlic knots and a beer for 18 bucks, can’t beat it . slices were great, staff was great, and music was good. kitchen staff brought us an extra garlic knot because there were only 7 in our basket and there was supposed to be 8. we wouldn’t have known the difference as this was our 1st time there, excellent service.
