Amazing place! Great atmosphere, friendly staff. I was blown away by what I had: crispy whiskey shrimp is sorta like that bang bang shrimp on see everywhere, but with a tangy whiskey glaze instead. It’s sooooo good. And the fish & chips: maybe the best in Butler county.

We are staying at the adjoining Well House Inn. We are glad there is outdoor seating in this glorious weather. Julia is a great server. She is very personable and made good suggestions. We started with drinks and the egg roll. My dirty martini was nice. We were hoping for a little more meat. As it was Friday, and wanted to recreate Friday Fish Fry, we did the Fish and Chips. I also had a pint of Guiness. We ended with ice cream.

The interior is nicely done with lots of wood. Loved the tartan wallpaper in the bathroom.

I heard so many good reviews about this place, I had to see for myself. Before we even talk about the food, the customer service was phenomenal. The fish was fresh, crispy, and flaky. The chips complimented them very well. You can’t beat good quality food along with a smooth espresso martini. 10/10!! Highly RECOMMEND

Really yummy food, lovely servers, and cool vibes!

I tried the Beef Guinness Stew, and it was very good! It was definitely different than most beef stews I’ve had before (I am a beef stew LOVERRRR) but it was still really good! It is important for me to tell you that the beef is VERY tender! 🙂 The Potato Skins were also pretty good, but the stew was the highlight for me! As I said, the broth is a bit different — it almost tastes like there’s a bit of tomato in the broth but I couldn’t put my finger on it! Not bad, but just be aware it’s a bit different! Their House Red Wine was a Silk & Spice Red Blend which I was very pleased with, as it was a different choice than a lot of bars have, and it’s not one of the bare minimum cheap typical wines, so I was very pleased. It was only $8 too. They price things VERY appropriately, and I was so glad! As a bartender, I also tried their Lavender Haze podcast and it was great! Floral and sweet but not too much… almost like a slightly sweeter French 75!

The servers were SO so kind and helpful!! They were very understanding about my group having to come at an odd time right before the kitchen closed and they were still patient and helpful as we tried to quickly make our food decisions! The bartenders, servers, and hosts were just very friendly and welcoming and made us feel happy to have gone there!!

It’s a very warm, dark, cozy space. It is awesome! We really enjoyed our late dinner!

Very nice vibe of a restaurant for what the town offers. It’s an Irish pub so the food is gonna give you plenty of Irish options. It’s reasonable, friendly atmosphere. The food isn’t bad. It’s not the worst. It’s not the greatest but it’s convenient for staying at the hotel and in the vicinity. Ordered a shepherds pie and it was tasty, but it was kind of a skimpy dish which still sort of had me left a little hungry or to wake up like I did extra early to be hungry. The guy next to me ordered the Parmesan crusted chicken. It looked super dry as that that’s the effect the Parmesan has and I could tell he was not happy with it, which is bad when the bartender kept saying how the chicken and he was like “eh” and then she saw he wasn’t eating and didn’t address the issue.

Very impressed. I sat with Michelle and received outstanding service and the fish was wonderful. She was extremely accommodating with my gluten allergy and went out of her way to make sure I enjoyed my meal. I even decided to go to the bar after my meal and Julia made me one of the best martinis I’ve had in quite a while and provided some awesome conversation to go along. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone in Hamilton or visiting

Went here over the weekend and had a wonderful experience. We reserved our table online and it was easy to do. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by the friendly staff. They have a great selection of cocktails and craft beer. We started off with the potato skins for our appetizer. They were absolutely delicious. We then ordered the fish and chips and it was cooked to perfection and delicicous. They even make their own tarter sauce to go along with it. The atmosphere very cozy and it’s very clean. Had great service the whole time as our waitress was very attentive. We loved how easy to hear each other for our date night. I highly recommend this gem in the heart of downtown Hamilton. Wonderful place to eat.

Where do I start? We read about The Lucky Well, which just opened in Hamilton, Ohio recently. We love a good pub and decided to give it a try. One of our better decisions!

Oh my goodness. And I do mean goodness! Great location, great atmosphere, great food, and friendly staff.

We started off with a couple appetizers: The High Street Crispy Shrimp was delectable. It had a whisky glaze and came with a malt vinegar slaw. I am not a cole slaw person. But this changed my mind. So different than all the cookie cutter slaws. The flavor of the shrimp was very satisfying, and I could have made a meal out of just this–hah, and should have when I think of all I had eaten. “Crispy” was an understatement. Delicious. The potato leek soup was good and hot and was served with a large slice of soda bread. In fact, all the food here was quite plentiful.

I chose the fish and chips for my entrée. This dish was a close second to the fish and chips I once had at a Scottish pub in Victoria, Canada. The fish and chips at The Lucky Well was absolutely perfection. It came with some malt vinegar slaw and mushy peas, and a side of crinkle sliced fries. They were crisp outside and soft inside and very flavorful. All were equally good and great accompaniments to the meal. My husband had the handheld beer battered cod on rye with onion rings. Equally as good as the cod entrée.

My brother-in-law opted for shepherd’s pie. It was rich and delicious and comforting.

We shared the cheesecake and Guinness bread pudding for dessert. Oh my. I do not like bread pudding. Until now. It was hot and crispy with tart apples and a wonderfully rich whisky caramel sauce. The cheesecake was one of the best I have had. It, too, had a caramel sauce, and just one small bite was a fluffy explosion of cream.

What a great time at The Lucky Well, and a delicious meal. I’m very glad we live only a short distance away. We will return.
