Two words. Smothered tamales. Oh my gosh. Everything on the menu looked amazing. The smothered tamales were some of the best food I’ve ever eaten. Street tacos were delicious as well. The staff were so sweet and patient as I tried to make up my mind on what to actually get. Cannot recommend enough.

Being new to the area and missing places like El Rancho in Omaha and La Juanita in Sioux City, I had to find a new place to get delicious tacos and I found it at El Taco Amigo. The tacos were mine blowing, and the quesadilla was spot on amazing the chips and queso were delicious as well. The young lady at the window was very kind and helpful. Highly recommend this restaurant!

This place is absolutely delicious!!!! I got the torta and a platter with burrito, hard taco and enchiladas.the torta bread was soft but not soggy and everything was so perfect. Even their lettuce is delicious. Can’t believe how flavorful and delicious . Cooks with love that’s for sure. Found my new fav place.

I was super impressed at this little walk up and order restaurant. Plenty of seating inside while you are waiting on your food. My only regret is that I am not in town another couple of days so I can try something else that I know will be beyond delicious.

Got the wet burrito, which was great, the spicy shrimp, which was amazing, and the Mexican-style quesadillas, which were seriously one of the best things I’ve eaten in my life. Super cool minimalist Devore, and really really nice people too!

Best taco shop in Deland hands down…
This is my go to food stop, especially when I’m broke. Haha. The fish tacos are the best I have ever had. If you want honest, real, delicious food that won’t break the bank, this is the spot. Mel is always incredibly nice and the cooks are definitely adding love to the recipe… its hidden, the parking is not great and it takes a few minutes to get your food (real food takes time to prepare)
but, its all worth it!!!

You know that saying, don’t judge a book by its cover? Yep! Same goes for this place, it’s attached to a car shop but don’t let that stop you from going in. Food is fantastic, huge portions, great prices. Piping hot food and pleasant staff. If you pay with credit card there is a small fee , cash is cash. lol. Definitely check this place out.

Definitely a hole in the wall that is easy to miss or overlook. I’ve lived in Deland for many years and am only just now learning about this place. I did not enter the restaurant, there is a window you can order from, so I can’t attest to the atmosphere or cleanliness but the outside appears well taken care of.
The young woman who helped me with my order was very nice and helpful. Answered my questions with a great attitude.
I ordered a California burrito and my husband prefers them all chimichanga style (deep-fried). I asked if they could do that and they said yes! They did warn me they think the fresh ingredients may mess with it. I think it’s wonderful they care enough about the quality to let me know. It held up great, btw.
My steak nachos were really good too. I modified it for fresh jalapeño rather than pickled. Also, this is just me, I would have preferred more cheese and meat. What was provided was enough, I just prefer to overload my nachos with those two.
Super satisfying meals. Great horchata. Amazing price.

Authentic tacos that taste amazing! Anytime we drive through this area, we stop. Their rice and beans are equally delicious! The outside isn’t what you expect when pulling up, but don’t let that stop you. The portions are excellent, and prices are fair. Everything you could ask for in wanting great food!
