The people running Fat Fender were very nice. The service was attentive. I loved all of the plants in the dining room window. The food was terrible- one of the worst meals we have ever paid for. My husband ordered an Old Fashioned, and it was a tall glass filled with sweet liquid, oranges, lemons, limes, cherries, and a sugared rim- it was NOT an Old Fashioned by any stretch of the imagination.

I was going to order a salad, but the only dressing choices were Italian or Ranch, neither of which I care for, so I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup. The soup was 100% from a can- it was probably Campbells. The grilled cheese was limp and filled with either Velveeta or some weird American cheese- and it was cold.
My husband ordered the Chicken Piccata, and the chicken was absolute rubber with ZERO seasoning. It looked awful and the pasta sat in a puddle of lemon juice- he couldn’t even eat it.
Weirdly, everything had liberal sprinklings of dried parsley all over it. We left most of the food on the table, paid the bill, and left.
We enjoyed our time at Lathrope State Park, but Fat Fenders left a BAD taste in our mouths.

This is a small-town, quaint restaurant with top notch food and friendly, welcoming staff. We had the chicken piccata and Santa Fe burger with potato salad, and everything was absolutely delicious! The wall art made by staff, family members, and customers just add to the fun character of this place. Will absolutely come back and highly recommend to others.

What a gem! Highlight is the owners. My daughter and I dined here on our way to opening week at Wolf Creek. We shared the salmon fillet and it was perfect.

This was the worst food we’ve had in a long time. One star is one too many. Chips & salsa – the chips were stale, the “salsa” was Pace picante. We did ask for fresh chips – the server tasted one just to make sure before taking them away. The side salads were just bagged salad mix, and couple of croutons and a slice of buttered bread. Ranch or Italian dressing are your only options. I ordered the chicken breast smothered with green chili and cheese. I’m not sure if it was the seasoning on the chicken or in the chili, but it seemed to taste like cinnamon. The roasted green chili on top was pretty good. My partner ordered the chicken Marsala on linguine. The noodles were cooked decently, but the sauce tasted like dirty water and the chicken had the texture of semi-dried paste. The prices are way too high for the low quality of the food. We did not finish our meal and we will not be going back.

Just had dinner at Fat Fenders and have to say this was one of the best meals we’ve had in our travels thru Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, Wyoming and Montana! We all ordered from the Italian menu and the food could not have been better! Staff is super friendly and food came out as ordered. The wine pours are what we call Mexico generous, in other words as good or better than we receive when we vacation in Mexico! Love this place, if you’re going through or near Walsenburg, CO you need to stop in, if not for dinner, for a large glass of wine!

Jeff and Maude treated us like family. Pasta Primavera was huge and yummy. It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but the food, service and friendliness more than make up for it.

Coming into town on my motorcycle I pulled over into Fat Fenders parking lot. I was going to search for hotels in the area. There was a gentlemen standing in the doorway so I asked him if he could recommend a hotel. Come on in he said. We will find you one. He had his wife call the Anchor hotel and handed me the phone. Sure enough they had a room and in my price range. Making small talk with the couple I decided to order a pulled pork sandwich and stay a bit. The sandwich came out quickly and the couple proceeded to tell me the history of the bldg. It was interesting. Looking at my atlas I was trying to decide which way to go back to central Ohio. They suggested a couple of routes and I think I will follow their suggestion. If i ever come back this way I will definitely make it a point to stop at Fat Fenders again.
