Fantastic fresh seafood and varied menu. Beautifully cooked with good sized portions and supported by attentive, well informed, but not intrusive staff. Outstanding meal, thoroughly enjoyed – couldn’t manage dessert!
Go if you can, but would recommend booking ahead, certainly in high season, to avoid disappointment. Well supported by locals tells you it’s something special.

This was one of the best meals we had in our month-long visit to Scotland. Local langoustines, and lovely Sticky Toffee Pudding.

To be honest, having eaten at Floveran the night before, I was not expecting Skerries to be this good. Pictures don’t do it justice. Great views from restaurant. Arrived bang on time, not rushed off to table. Offered choice of a pre dinner drink or immediate seating all felt very calm and professional. Nice table and decor. Staff efficient and polite. Food terrific, fresh, no wait but not rushed. It’s a bit more pricey compared to some other places but rightfully so. I got sauce with my steak !

Lovely restaurant. Great area. Friendly helpful staff. Appealed to us as two of our party have small appetite they offered smaller portions. Food was beautiful we all really enjoyed it. Would highly recommend. And we will definitely return.

Always a warm welcome and an excellent meal. Fantastic portions of well cooked food, much of which is locally sourced. Clean and pleasant dining room, helpful and friendly staff – even when rushed off their feet they’re still smiling!

The place is OK, but the food was nothing special. The view and the grounds were lovely. Personally I think the waitress needs to relax, she was good at her job but interacting with the customer or even a smile wouldn’t have gone a miss. Also we were asked if we wanted anything else, to which I replied we were OK and could we have the bill, then one of our party decided she wanted a coffee, she was told to order it in the bar next door has they wanted the table back. I’m also a bit confused to why the background music was a local radio station. I’ve known cafes to play radios but not restaurants.
The prices aren’t cheap, and for the £200 we spent, value for money ‘I wouldn’t be rushing back’

Best restaurant on the Orkneys. Staff were attentive and we had a large group. The food was amazing. I had the pork with bacon, it was stuffed with black pudding and had a sauce drizzled on top. I had to slow down eating just so i could enjoy the flavors longer. The garlic mushrooms were devine. The scallops starter was great. The side dishes were compliment to every dish and the portions were adequate. I did not leave hungry, just wanting to come back again. The view of the lock was a compliment to everything else.
Outstanding restaurant.

Really delicious food in a great setting. There was a great selection of local produce as well and a wide variety of starters, mains, and deserts. Could have done with more veg on the plate, personal, but that was a tiny element of a fantastic meal.

Welcome was not up to the location

Yes, I’ll admit: we got there a little late (we got lost along the road…), but as soon as we sat down, we were immediately pushed to order!

Then, I don’t know if it was because of our delay, because we were not Hotel Guests, or just because… but they were all but friendly with us…

Despite that, the food was quite good, and the location spectacular! Shame about the house wine… rather old.
We should very much like to know if getting there in time would make a different experience… we’ll check.

Price per quality: all above considered, too much.

The food is really excellent, great local produce, prepared fantastically well. The soup of the day is always a highlight (last year my husband was raving about the lentil soup for months, but yesterday’s chicken and sweetcorn probably beat it!). But the best thing about it, really, are the staff – so kind and nice, doing everything they can to make everyone feel welcome and ensuring they have all they need. How they can muster up the patience and kindness after 18 long Covid months, I have no idea, but they do – thanks so much, you made it a lovely evening!
P.S. I just read through some of the previous review and wanted to clarify that if there ever was a policy of no sauce with steak in the bar, that is no longer the case. We ate in the bar and both had steak, with a choice of peppercorn, whiskey or roquefort sauce… (and it was delicious!)
