It’s a great place to eat. Fresh Hot and flavorful that we Cajuns demand.

Our server was fabulous; her timing on checking on our drinks, our food, etc was frequent, yet without constant interruptions.

As I enjoy giving ratings and strive for honest and fair opinions I probably pay more attention to the staff than most guest.

I saw that even when a table or two away, she would glance at our table to size up our drinks before heading to the kitchen. Two or more times she showed up with fresh drinks before we needed to ask.

The food is a cross between home made and having the added pop of a chef to kick it up a notch. It did take a bit longer than I expected. And was not indicative of previous visits.
But well worth the wait as we enjoyed the conversations with our guests.

The atmosphere is indicative of a hometown restaurant. Not overly fancy, but not overly bland. If not for the other tables and noise from the other guests, it is similar to sitting at my home table. But not so noisy you can’t hear your own guests. Conversation was easy, even though I had not brought my hearing aids.

Overall it has become a favorite, especially for seafood PoBoy’s or plates.

Decided to give it a shot despite the bad reviews. First we called to order and apparently it’s 10.00 to add cheese to a potato. Then he went and got it and brought it back. I was underwhelmed. The “cheese” sauce is watery and flavorless. The potato was very cheaply loaded with stuff. Only a few shrimp. Just an overall a disappointment for the price.

I genuinely think these “5 star reviews” are family friends of the owners. I’ve heard nothing but terrible things about how they treat their staff since the new owners and quite literally everything taste like frozen foods. The new atmosphere since the redo of the dining area lacks uniqueness and personality. The food is not good and the gumbo is always cold. Please avoid coming here so we are not supporting the lady who makes everyone walk on eggshells around.

The food was great and the portions are plentiful. I was pleasantly surprised about the good taste of the food. I will definitely go back.

We were traveling from Texas and I was craving boiled shrimp and luckily Chookies was near by. I was not disappointed. The shrimp was great and hit the spot. It was exactly what I wanted. The service was great. The staff are very friendly.

Let’s start with Google sucks when listing this place. I googled what I was looking for in the area. This place Doesn’t have what I asked Google for. The atmosphere is mom and pop home town quaint. I decided to try it even though I was mis lead by Google. It’s a hit or miss when trying new places. This was a miss. The food was less than bland. For being a Louisiana restaurant they need to use seasonings. Sorry I want to be honest. It was not a total bust because the people I went with had the catfish and they thought it was good. I value their input on things. I tasted from their plates and still stick to the use of seasoning comment. I was not impressed with the experience. I say try it for yourself. You may like it better than I did.

This was a mixed bag. We had a group. My fish sandwich was fine though they come with ketchup if you don’t order otherwise. Wife’s shrimp sandwich was fine though someone else didn’t care for theirs. One ordered a salad with chicken. The chicken was skimpy. We had to ask twice for her salad dressing. Prices were unusual. Sandwich prices were reasonable but side dishes were unacceptable. $5 for a side of fries, and not enough to be reasonably shared, just normal. Other sides were similar if not worse. Price of sides made the whole meal overpriced. You do get 1 and only one drink refill. This was not an issue for us this visit but could be for other people. For me, 3 stars means I would be happy to go again. That’s why I gave it only 2 stars.

Creative selection on their menu. The Gumbo is great, but the Shrimp & Corn Bisque is even better.

The food was amazing. My husband and I took our girls there. It was my oldest birthday. We ordered the shrimp basket, trio basket, pistolette trio, and crab cakes I added pasta to my dish.
