Here goes people. I used to call this my favorite Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately, on Sunday I had a not so good experience. I came into the restaurant, and there was only one server, as a GM of a restaurant myself, I completely understand that it gets frustrating being the only server on the floor. I ordered 2 cokes for my mother and I. She walked over with two glass bottles, mind you, I haven’t been in a little bit, so I forgot that it was the Mexican coca cola, that I do not like…..and they were already opened. Once I had the chance to catch her again, I explained that none of us like that kind of coke. The look on her face let me know she wasn’t happy about it. Because she was alone she struggled with keeping on top of our needs…..but again, I completely understood.
We walk over to the register to pay. I paid my “WAY OVERCHARGED BILL”.
The guy was about to start adding my mother’s bill together when the server RAN over saying the lemonade is $4.50, the lemonade is $4.50, as if we were stealing something…….they both were in to-go cups, and completely filled with ice. They charged us $4:50 for 2 cups of ice with a little juice for my grandchildren. To top it off they are charging 3.99% on ALL cards, including debit. I am pretty sure it is illegal to charge debit cards. (But what do I know?)
I called and left my number with whoever answered, after explaining, he said the owner would call me Monday. It’s Tuesday evening and I’m sure I won’t hear from anyone.
If you plan to eat here, keep in mind, they are definitely overcharging. I am very sad about it because I have ALWAYS enjoyed eating here, but after that experience, and not hearing back form anyone, I will NEVER return. I work VERY hard for my money, and when businesses are robbing people, it definitely upsets me.

Stopped in after I couldn’t find a different restaurant ironically. Walked in and wow. Instant atmosphere that put me in the mood for Spanish food. But… Was it?
Absolutely. My wife and I ordered to much just to try as much as possible. Ended up clearing it all.
Service was friendly and generous.
Will stop there every time we drive through Cuero. My new favorite.

Had the fish tacos. Now they usually only do grill fish tacos, but they were able to fry mine. Very good. The guacamole was homemade and delicious. Would eat here again.

Wow! Really excellent food! We had the Jalapeño Chicken, Spinach and Chicken Enchiladas and Pastor Enchiladas. All of it was great. We also loved their rice. It had so much flavor. We will be back often!

Mayan Restaurant is open for dining. They quickly arranged for social distancing dining with staff wearing masks. Had the beef taco salad and beef fajita nachos. Was delicious. It was great getting out and experiencing refills on tea, chips, and salsa again. Topped it off with some sopapillas. Nice, friendly staff. Really missed the dining experience, thanks Mayan for opening the dining so quickly.

It is still a GREAT Mexican restaurant!! This is the 2nd visit, my husband and I stopped here for lunch, on the way to Rockport again while on vacation. The atmosphere is really nice. Their employees are very friendly and attentive. And the food is absolutely delicious. Overall it was a wonderful dining experience. We both enjoyed it tremendously. We might even stop by here again on the way back home. Thank you so much!
