The Timberline Bar and Grill is located on Mount Roberts in Juneau. One rides the Goldbelt Tram up to the restaurant. They offer American food, and a full bar, as well as Seafood and are Vegetarian and kid-friendly. The views are of the Gastineau Channel in front and mountain waterfalls in back, from the outside patio. There is a lovely gift shop and clean restrooms.
This is a seasonal restaurant, closing at the end of October and reopening in April. Hours are subject to change due to weather conditions, but in the summer, they are usually open from 8-9. During the season, the restaurant offers live music and is available for private events.
One orders from the printed menu at the counter and pays before eating. Table service sets and condiments re self-serve. The food is then brought to your table.
We enjoyed our chili bread bowls. Both the chili and the bread-bowl were tasty; the chili was hot but not too spicy, and the bread-bowl was fresh. We felt that the portion size was a bit small.
I would recommend this place. The tram ride up was fun, and the restaurant was charming. It is accessible from the tram or one may hike up and ride down. Season Passes are available.
The tram base location is at the main cruise dock on Franklin St., and tickets may be purchased there.

I only had the crab nachos. The crab meat is shredded and it’s a little pricey. Served on a large platter, meant to be shared. At 1st hardly any topping, but they saw the disappointment on my face and brought out another.

Average food that’s overpriced towards busy & captive cruise ship tourists.
Alaskan Halibut Fish was dry, & Chips were tater tots.
While the Wings were good, the advertised “Six chicken wings” were not supplied; only five in basket. Didn’t notice until after paid.
At least the Heineken beer was not a local brew, and snowcapped view couldn’t be faulted.

The food was delicious, the halibut fish and chips were great. Crispy on the outside and flavorful on the inside. It had a nice view of the surrounding area.

Well, it’s a cool place to grab a meal or drink because of the stunning views. But it’s no atmosphere other than that. Obviously, it’s a place for tourists.

The restaurant has really nice views, is clean, decently fast, and friendly. The prices however did not fit the food quality. Dont get me wrong, the food was good, and theres something for everyone, but nearly $30 for a hamburger that was maybe 3/8-1/2 inch thick and maybe 2.5-3 inches around is pretty excessive, even for being in a remote area and paying nearly $60 per person to get here.

The clam chowder was really good.

Im bot saying dont come here, it was worth it after we did the big hike, but im saying be prepared to spend premium for average. There is definately room for improvement in my opinion, but dont let this stop you from coming here. I live 3000 miles away and what my normal is may be above expectation.

Great food and service. Definitely recommend the chicken teriyaki sandwich and the fish and chips and if you get the nachos, bring a football team to finish them. They’re no joke!

Being a resident of Juneau, we found a gem at the top of the Mountain Roberts Tram that we have often overlooked. Great food and a spectacular view of the Gastineau Channel, Juneau and Douglas Island.

No frills dining atmosphere. The views are amazing. I had the scallops which were probably the best I have ever eaten.
