Food is affordable but quite bland with zero seasoning. Cornmeal coating was coarse and came off as soon as picked the piece. Fries were very soggy, but burnt and with no salt.
I mean if you’re super hungry and passing by this spot, I’d get it but I definitely wouldn’t drive 2 hours for it like other reviewers have mentioned. If they could add bit of seasoning to the batter and improve their fries quality, it’d be great.
Linda’s Fish & Chip has become our destination for some of the best fried oysters and clam strips l have personally had. Each time we have been we have had the pleasure of talking to Linda herself or other family members. Always greeted with big smiles – the staff has always been pleasant and friendly. They do have a Facebook page that is updated regularly with changes to hours or other menu changes/updates.
Seating is tables with benches style seats and umbrellas. I love the views. The winds can be a bit much – so weigh down light objects (napkins and such). They are definitely pet friendly.
The main fair is fried – Cod, oysters, shrimp (including coconut shrimp), clam strips, and fresh cut fries. They also have oyster shooters in a souvenir shot glass, clam chowder (8oz, 12oz, or 16oz), and shrimp salad (check social media page for availability). The portions are amazing. We always leave pleasantly full. The oysters are so fresh (as they should be!) They are so tender, buttery and taste of the sea. They don’t play you cheap on the clam strips either – proper strips and not a bunch of breading crumbs. Fries are served unsalted, but they provide several seasoning options – salt, pepper, garlic salt, Johnny’s, and Slap Yo’ Mama.
They have also started selling cookies from a local baker – 2 cookies / $1. Lots of different flavors.
They do have a port-o-let on site as well.
If you are headed out to the Washington Coast, and pass through South Bend stop by and give Linda’s a try!
They have a super cool map that you can put a pin in to show where you are from……..pretty cool & impressive!
Highly recommend coming here!
Came back there 4/20 and had some more oysters and tried their clam chowder… The oysters are still amazing… And the clam chowder was delicious. The clams, potatoes were chopped into little bits, but you had a small bit of everything with every spoonful. Not too creamy or soupy. Will get again.
